here's the (much expected) Update...

after several days of communicating with points.com / ebay employees, it is indeed "impossible" to purchase points at a rate of 1c/point.

However, you can still get the 21XX miles for $19.95 --> less than 1c per mile
not as good as anticipated, i know - but a start

There are some decent offers on the anythingpoints page:
1400 points for signing up for ancestry.com free for 14 days. This is much better than, for example, mypoints gives you. Also you can get 1000 points and a $25 gas card for paying $1 for PremierHealthPlus for 30 days. In each case you have to remember to call to cancel (credit card required). I'm also considering the 1500 points for the free trial of the credit report service. The no-fee credit card is not bad either, where you earn slightly more than 1 mile per dollar spent.

Good question. Because I followed (or at least I thought I followed) steps 1, 2, & 3. They quickly took my $19.95 and all I got (so far) was 650 AA miles. The way I calculate that I paid $.03 per mile

Thanks MazdaMP for the heads up. ^

To the previous poster, for enrolling in points plus, you get a choice of an enrollment bonus at which point you must choose 2100 ebay anythingpoints and then convert to AAdvantage miles. The conversion allows a little better than a 1:1 ratio between anythingpoints and AA miles.

Doh! Did you not see my post saying to sign up for the 2100 ebay anything points and NOT the AA miles?

My miles for the membership posted this morning, 977+1221 bonus. I have also done Sharebuilder, New York Times and the PremierHealth. Those three I signed up for are 9000 points. So that should be 4186 miles plus the bonus of 5232 miles for a total of 9418 miles. I only consider I spent $2. The Sharebuilder was $4 plus $1 commission. The $4 I can get back or even make a little on since it is a stock. The New York Times I already read some and I always read the some paper anyways so I don't consider that an extra cost. The premier health was $1 non-refundable and I will cancel that as soon as the points show up. Not too bad. The bonus offer is until June 30 by the way.

Hi! Signed up for points.com. Then from EBAY Anything points page clicked on link to earn 5000 points for Sharebuilder. Logged in to Sharebuilder with EBAY ID and clicked on link that says Start Here. However, at that point I get to a search page with "incredifind" in the URL. Tried several times--no luck. What am I doing wrong???

Not sure, I didn't have that problem. Try it again later, I guess.

I too am confused by the sharebuilder, it seems if you buy a stock you pay the stock fee. Where is it you can do something for $4 with a $1 commission fee?

You actually buy $1 worth of stock and pay $ 4 worth of comission. Still not bad for the miles!

The Ancestry.com and Premier Health Miles showed up within a few days in my anything points account and I just trasfered them to AA.

Great Find!

I am a bit lost ... this is probably because I am not member of ebay nor points.com.

It would be very help if someone can walk me through step by step of what needed to be done in order to purchase 50,000 AA miles for less than $0.01. Maybe let's start with where to registered.
