US Airways - one way awards?

I couldn't find this but am trying to look at MIA-FCO award using AA miles.

US Airways has some good routing, but I don't understand their award chart or my options that are showing up. on the us airways website (not the AA website). Their awards only start at 35,000, then I see a different chart for share with AA, that only shows 60K I assume RT. So confusing. But is that Round trip? What if I only want to use them one way. One I saw on the website showed 45K that isn't even an option on their chart, so what does that mean? If I see something on the US website for an award, butnot AA, what should I do. Call XPlat desk (still XPlat for another month).

Between US and Europe: Economy
Off-peak: 35,000
Low: 60,000
Medium: 90,000
High: 125,000

Envoy
Off-peak: N/A
Low: 100,000
Medium: 200,000
High: 325,000

If you're using AA miles, then US' award chart is irrelevant: your redemption will be governed by AA's redemption rates, fees, and policies.

Thanks. so does that mean, I can chose a very nice return from FCO - MIA using US Airways thru CLT? it shows as an option on US Airways booking but not on AA website booking. AA has a lot of other options, AB, BA, etc oat 30K, but US Airways isn't listed.

So I can call AA and ask to book that as an award and hopefully at 30K one way?

The US Airways website will display redemption options at all tier levels. Only the lowest-tier US Airways award flights will be available for redemption with AA miles.

Cancelling mid trip?

Quick question for the experts.

I have a North America to Asia 2 Award in F = 67500 miles

Flown the first segment JFK-LAX (F) and now in a stop over at a N. American gateway.

My upcoming trip to Asia 2 hasn't started yet.

Can I cancel the whole itinerary and just pay 32500 miles for the JFK-LAX portion, and get back 35000 miles for the asia portion?

Thanks

I am not feeling a warm and fuzzy feeling with US Airways website and what they are asking for miles. Do I understand you to say when I call AA they will allow me to use a one way award on US Airways at the lowest tier "economy for 30K even though that does not appear to be an option. They are asking for 45K on their website

As you noted in your earlier post, 90K miles for a roundtrip (45K miles each way) is not US' low-tier redemption rate between the U.S. and Europe, so no, you will not be able to book that particular itinerary with AA miles.

By the way, your inquiry and the follow-ups to it do not belong in the "Explorer Award" thread, but rather in the "Partner Award" thread; I've alerted a Moderator.

Yes, but not for free (unless you have EXP status). There is a $150 re-deposit/re-claim fee that would have to be paid.

Unfortunately not. Only wholly-unused award can be redeposited. Once you started traveling on an award, there is no way to get any miles back from it.

Probably not, but have you called AA?

Yeah I called AA, and they said NO.

But that was one call only. Was wondering if I needed to do the HUCA. But since you guys say no, then that's it for that.

Thanks

Just curious, if I'd like to travel from Asia 2 to Europe, may I take Qatar Airways?

I know that North America to Africa via the AUH is two awards, but what about Europe to Africa via AUH?

Two awards (or one multi-partner, distance-based "Explorer" award).

Etihad Question..

I'm looking at booking flights for 3 to Sydney for next Jan in business - Next to impossible I've been told - If I try flying JFK to Etihad to Sydney is this a valid routing? I know I can not traverse Asia, but what about the Middle East?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks!
