What did you expect for flights that are only about 60 days from now? Those flights have been bookable for about 270 days already.

GIG -> MIA is available 47 days from 14 March 2012 through the end of the calendar.

I found UA/CO's availability DFW-OGG to be massively greater than AA. I had a choice of at least 6 routings each way. I even found BusinessFirst in one direction.

Perhaps one of the most aggrieved by this will send a detailed inquiry through aa.com.

It's possible that the olympics in London may have something to do with the availability...I know they're late in the summer, but AA might still be trying to figure out when to release seats since it's so far out.

I expected availability to be somewhat similar a couple of months out, for off season, non-stop biz/first class tickets to what it has been the last few years. Have you looked in August for biz class tickets in late October/early November in the last few years? I have looked and purchased them and there is a clear, definite, negative difference this August.

I want to book two business class saver awards from DFW-CDG for Sept/2012. I have been checking online for several months, and there are not two saver awards available at any time during the next 330 days or have there been at any time that I have checked. They will allow me to book one award, but not two. I have been wondering when everyone would become aware of this and start talking about it. Of course, I can't actually book the tickets until October, so I keep hoping that this will change. i had no trouble booking saver award tickets for last October to Europe. I think this has changed dramatically sometime in the last six months. According to what I am reading on this thread, talking to an agent isn't helping.

Wasn't clear.... What I was trying to say is that you can't get a partner award with AAnytime awards without having to do 2 awards. First say AAnytime DFW-mad-DFW and then have to get an award say mad-ARN-mad. Partner awards require Miles Saver availability.

Dear Austinrunner,

Your efforts to prove everything is as usual, do not echo here, as facts prove otherwise.

Fact remains that in the markets I informed previously AA awards have become much more restrictive to absolutely non-existant, such as BSB or SSA / REC.

AA has been known to be easier to redeem awards, thus AA miles have been much more valuable than DL Skypesos or UA Starnetmiles - and AA could sell their miles at higher costs than other players.

You merely confirm what I stated previously: GIG-MIA J awards are available only if willing to wait seven months - this is not the way AA used to be in this market. You forgot to confirm that other markets have no availability but ONE seat in the whole calendar, eventually no longer there.

I agree that paying twice the usual award miles, space becomes available - the same way other major carriers also operate but then your argument only contributes to confirm AA miles have been devaluated and invites us to take our business out of AA.

If AA, or any other company, wants a sound and solid business then customers are to be cared for or they can simply take their business elsewhere.

# years ago, I wanted to upgrade to Z going to FCO. I've never had a problem the 6 previous times I've traveled there. I booked my ticket 8 months in advance. The only thing I heard for the 8 months was SFO to ORD hadn't cleared and neither had ORD to SFO. At the gate the upgrades were all given to the elites. It was the same coming back. It appeared that AA didn't want to clear any mileage upgrades until the day of the flight.

That was the last time I flew AA to Rome or any other place.

No A/Z C/I/U...the non-revs will be happy

In all seriousness, I've had no luck as an EXP with expanded availability in Z or U to LHR and I've also found that BA from IAD to LHR in Z has gotten a lot more difficult too even with the YQ charges. It use to be if BA showed F9 A9 that a Z seat was virtually a given. For that matter, it use to be that if I found an I fare open on AA than an A seat was open for an e-VIP but no longer and I don't hardly try to get C seats anymore without expecting a waitlist.

Up until a few weeks ago, there was a lot of availability and anyone with a reasonable amount of flexibility could easily find seats. Then it disappeared. Other routes (such as to FCO) have long been a problem, but this is new.

This appears to be a massive negative change in AAdvantage and it's been going on for too long to be regarded as a glitch. It's not a matter of lack of flexibility or that flights are selling out, many are F7J7 shortly before flight time.

bedelman has posted screenshots documenting the lack of availability:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/16980104-post104.html

It still appears possible to fly BA (but then there are large YQ fees) or IB (but many fewer flights).

There was a recent temporary decrease in economy awards. This is a much different situation. A thread on that topic is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...eyre-back.html A number of posters towards the end of that thread suggested starting a thread on premium unavailability.
In an attempt to get this thread back on track, I just did a check to see if there were any changes from what bedelman found and documented. I just used AA.com, not EF, but his screenshots, unfortunately, still represent the current inventory regarding Business MileSAAvers and there are still just 2 dates in July showing First MileSAAvers.

And the point is not that there are still routes showing availability, but that AA has zero-ed out JFK-LHR Biz MileSAAvers - breaking with their historical pattern.

Zero Biz MileSAAvers also for LAX-LHR

I'm not familiar with its historical pattern but as another data point LAX-LHR currently shows zero Biz MileSAAvers and it shows just one day in July for First MileSAAver availability.

I used AA.com and searched for just one seat from August 28th to the end of the schedule. And when I say LAX-LHR or JFK-LHR I'm referring to the non-stop route.

Zero Biz MileSAAvers also for ORD-LHR

Again using AA.com, searching availability for the non-stop ORD-LHR for one seat from tomorrow until the end of the schedule - there is currently zero availability for Biz MileSAAvers and 2 dates in July showing availability for First MileSAAvers.

Actually blase is correct and Austinrunner is wrong.

Austinrunner: when you cite examples of availability please be specific, or your posts are rendered meaningless. For instance, your first date above, January 10 does NOT have availability for ORD-LHR per AA.com. It does however have availability for ORD-RDU-LHR. January 17 does NOT have availability for ORD-LHR, it has availability for ORD-DFW-LHR. This is quite a distinction.

The real findings are far more interesting to see what AA is continuing to load and what it's zero-ed out.

You are excessively picky about how you get from the USA to LHR. Connections should be perfectly acceptable. There is nothing "unreal" about ORD -> RDU -> LHR or ORD -> DFW -> LHR.
