Sky pesos pulling ahead

For the past 10 years, I've tried to book awards with Delta miles. Never
any success. Then I would go to AA and find the awards.
This year it's switched. Three award flights on Delta when none were available
on AA. Not a good sign

"No, of course they had AAnytime space if they had SAAver space."

Not necessarily. If a connecting flight on US metal were involved, that itinerary could only be available as a SAAver award, never as an AAnytime.
Also true for other partner awards - always have to come from the restricted inventory. I assumed we were talking AA metal - my bad.

While not easy, I was able to book 7 Saaver awards yesterday to PHL-KOA. Mix of T and Z. Metal is US, AA and AS.

My experience has been award inventory looks ok when partners are involved. When it's only AA metal, inventory is slim to none.

So when you said "I checked your dates", I assumed you had, you know, checked....

I've been trying to find a seat on Cathay or JAL in J under business saver but I haven't been able to find anything for the next 10 months, is this normal? I've been able to find plenty of availability on QF to Australia but nothing to Asia (ICN/HND/NRT/HKG)

What method did you use to try to find CX/JL award space?

The aa.com website is incapable of displaying award-seat availability for about half of AA's partners -- including CX and JL.

You must call AA to book award travel on CX/JL. An AA agent can check award-seat availability for you, or you can check availability through some third-party sites.

Ah, very good to know, will certainly do that. Is there a general consensus on how difficult it is to snag a saver award on JL/CX? I've noticed that I couldn't find nearly any business saver, even on AA metal to/from Japan/Korea for the next 10 or so months, only anytime awards.

Many FTers have been able to find SAAver availability on both CX and JL. Date flexibility will increase your chances of finding award space.

People with a BA Executive Club account are able to search for CX/JL award space on ba.com.

Note that AA's routing rules do not permit a HKG connection on award travel between North America and Japan/Korea.

I can't find any business/First MilageSAAver awards on AA metal to any international destination. Granted I have only looked at EZE, NRT, and HKG but I can't find anything for multiple months windows. Is this the New American Airlines or is there something else going on? Thanks.
