Added section at the bottom for pre-departure meet up for drinks to gauge interest. Seems that if a majority of people are staying on property at the Grand Hyatt that it may be easiest to do it there. Not sure what time everyone gets in the evening/day before but I propose 8PM.

First no longer oversold and Y, at last check, only oversold by 5 (and as mentioned above, AA selling new seats so for sure they expect more reservations to cancel, etc.)

I just want to say I did an inaugural once! Missed the 777-300 one due to a deployment. Hopefully they aren't stingy with the trinkets!

The Hyatt Regency is also on airport property. You just walk through the parking garage (clearly signed) in 5 mins and you're in the middle of Term C. I can usually get it for $99++ (though it's $159++ the night we need), which is well worth the 5 minute walk vs paying for the Grand Hyatt. If the flight is indeed out of D, then add a few mins on the train.

Right now I have the HR for $159 and the GH for $204. If those prices hold, I'll be at the HR. Of course I'll make a game-time decision since rooms very often cancel close-in.

FWIW, only the first flight is special. This is where you'll mingle with fellow avgeeks, execs and media. Even the 2nd flight will have at best a handful of pax who are there for the experience (vs normal pax). To me, 2nd flight or 100th flight are the same. The 1st is key.

From last year's A321 JFK-LAX inaugural... still use my Mophie iPhone battery pack/charger.
Of course that was when AA served edible meals and before Dougie started with the hatchet.
Not expecting much on this one.

For now however prices of tickets have gone up quite substantially for the flight.

I had put my DFW-ORD-DFW ticket on hold on the 14th and made the actual purchase about 830pst last night (didn't check the fare). Since then, the price of the ticket/routing has more than doubled.

Maybe prices will eventually come down in the next few weeks or so. I really have no idea to be honest.

Comparing other 788 operators it would appear row 27 or 28 has misaligned or missing windows
