New award inventories & booking codes - *Reference chart*
I've compiled a list of award booking classes for each carrier in the AAdvantage program.
You may find this information useful when you're on the phone with an AA rep, or perhaps when checking availability via Galileo, if you can see the relevant inventory.
Please also note that errors and omissions are excepted.
Notes
BA Economy flights are booked in V inventory for EXP, PLT and travel companions. If V isnt available, X can be used.
JL Business Class award travel within Japan ONLY is booked in D inventory. JL Economy class within Japan ONLY is booked in S inventory.
Effective September 1st, 2003, TN should be booked in A class for First and Z class for Business.

I wasn't sure how useful this info would be, but I thought I'd publish it anyway, just incase someone could use it. I think it would be more useful to know when you're on the phone booking an award, like "Hi, I'm looking for two Z-class seats on Lan Chile from Miami to Santiago...."
You get the idea.

Exceptionally useful reference. Thank you very much for providing it.
Quick question though. Do you know whether all the carriers in GRUPO TACA (TACA, LACSA and AVIATECA) use the D/T inventory for award seats or does that hold only for flights booked under the TA code?

This is very helpful! Thanks for posting it. I've been keeping notes as I come across this information. It's nice to have it laid out so clearly.

Can't seem to get American to find an award that allows for "A" travel or first class to PPT.
Any thoughts ?

This allows for First Class travel from North America to the South Pacific. It does seem quite a lot of miles for only a 8hrs 35 mins flight.
TN only has 6 F seats on their A340-300's, so maybe there's either no availability or the A-class seats are simply sold out.

American has come back and said that the First Class to PPT can't be booked now on any carrier but will be available after September 1st.

777Brit -- Very useful, thanks a lot!
I have a question though. A couple months ago, I was trying to book an award that included a domestic segment on AA. Galileo showed availability in T, but AA Platinum desk insisted that there is no award inventory. When I mentioned that I see T available on Galileo, the agent told me that not all T inventory is available for an award. According to her (and her supervisor that joined the conversation), some travel agent fares (those that are used as incentive) alsom come as T, but this inventory is not available for an award. Is this true?

(My experience is 7 years as an AA agent, including 2 years on the AA EXP desk, though I'm not an AA employee now)
