Hopefully they can get the underground lines and tanks inspected and working quickly or this is going to be mess for some time. Shorter flights into Miami can top up at their departure airport and avoid having to refuel in Miami, but that won't work for longer haul aircraft.

Hundreds of flights cancelled

I'm at MIA right now waiting for my flight to JFK, the last for the day. Airport is a zoo. Thankfully I had checked in at home since check-in lines even for First Class were going outside the terminal when I arrived.

Luckily, my flight to JFK is leaving from terminal E today (772 on AA-614) and I had the chance to go visit the "Premium Lounge" on terminal E. Nothing spectacular and just a Mexican tortilla soup available at 2PM.

I can't even imagine what Concourse D must be like. It seems as though AA has already beginning to outgrow that terminal. I'm sure that the lounges are also jammed packed too.

Yep, it's a zoo. My flight to EWR was canceled. They've reaccom'd me to LGA tomorrow morning (at least I kept the U/G) Nearest hotel that I could find was in Miami Beach.

AA 909 today to EZE is delayed until 920p. It is already 940p, the fuel truck has not arrived yet and there is no word on when it will arrive.

The tortilla soup in the premium lounge (which is not special at all) was still going strong at 730p when I left. It had teamed up with a few sanwiches, which were equally average.

Guess I'm a true FT'er here, but instead of the talk about the delays I'm more interestd in the Premium Lounge. Is this a replacement or new Flagship lounge for AA in MIA?

The premium lounge is a joint AA, BA, IB lounge that the MIA AC folks said is meant to be a notch above the AC.

Stepson traveling MIA-GSO tomorrow AM. Flight went out yesterday and today. Assuming that since it's a regional, that it's OK.

I'm flying MIA->YUL on Tuesday and it went out today (a little late)....so hopefully it stays put until Tuesday.

Hope they get this mess sorted out soon!
