I didn’t repost the T&C, I posted the original offer on their website. The same verbiage was in the email you received.

It’s hardly my fault that you didn’t read the generous offer carefully enough. Reading FT was not needed. Reading fine print wasn’t necessary either.

You were warned not to count on it

An Alaska rep on the phone just gave me a $200 voucher to apologize for the confusion and said she told her supervisor Loyalty needs to send emails when this happens.

I love it when folks like you on FlyerTalk defend the airline more than the airline defends itself.

That’s an interesting take given my post history; however, perusing that content to see I am an avid supporter and critic of AS would require a similar level of reading comprehension to properly utilize a status retention offer.

It’s rare to find a publicly traded company that will criticize customers; however, I’m more than happy to point out failures - personal, individual, or corporate. It’s great when we can learn from mistakes.

As for on topic, at least AS has made the process automatic this year. It’s been pretty seamless for those who qualified. 🤙🏻🥃

Already back to Gold and as I posted before it is all base miles flown with no EQM boosts for class of service. I thought this was all very clear from the offer wording. Off to DTW next week and then vacation in a few more weeks right before the deadline. If my spreadsheet is correct I should be 75K upon landing. At this point in my travel career I doubt 100K will ever be in the books and I am quite ok with that.

So since the COS bonus doesn't count...the calculations for the wifey were off. >.< I'm 1740 miles short for her to hit the 20k threshold now. If we just do PDX flights...does it count as 129 miles or the flat rate 500miles? Don't have much time to screw around with this now obviously so I want to make this count.

500 miles minimum applies! A recent PDX-SEA flight put my partner over the 20K BIZ and he was "fast-tracked" to 75K on landing. The subsequent flight earned the 75K Elite bonus.

Since the flight distance is 129 Miles and there is a 500 mile minimum, AS adds 371 EQM and updates your EQM total by 500. As a 75K, you earn a 125% Elite Tier RDM Bonus. That is shown in the Bonus section since those added EQM are also RDM.

Miles flown: 129
500 Mile Top-up: 371
EQM/RDM Earned: 500
Elite Bonus RDM only: (500 × 1.25) = 625
RDM Earned: (125 + 371 + 625) = 1125

Again, Mileage activity doesn't break out EQM earnings and EQM are also RDM and show up in the bonus total. Similarly, any COS would be included in the bonus because it is also RDM.

Mileage Activity:

Base: 129
Bonus (371 + 625) = 926
Total RDM (129 + 926) = 1125.

There isn't any breakdown of EQM Earnings. There is the total EQM towards status that is updated after each flight posts.

Bottom line, though, AS and most (not all) Partners earn a 500 EQM minimum. They count as 500 BIS qualifying miles towards status.

Only 2000 flights SEA to/from PDX and you would be a Million Miler on 258,000 BIS miles.

to reconfirm - for flights on partners like AA base miles on cheap fares can be 25% or 50% of flown miles right? (basically you can not earn more than flown miles as there is no class multiplier but you can earn less than flown if class of service is too low...)

The chart is here: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mi...tners-american

Base miles range from 25% to 100%. You can earn more than 100% total (up to 200%, plus elite bonus) but not more than 100% base.

You earn 500 EQM on flights less than 500 miles. In that regard, you earn more EQM than the flight distance regardless of eligible fare class. Even AA BE fares earn in Mileage Plan now.

For an AA flight, LAX-LAS (236 miles) purchased in fare class O, Q or B which earns 25% of miles flown as the base, your Base is (236÷4) = 59 miles. AS tops you up to the 500 mile minimum, adding 441 to the base and updating your EQM counter by 500. You Elite Bonus, if any, is calculated on the 500 minimum so 250, 500, 625, 750 for MVP through MVPG100K.

For partners that have the 500 mile minimum earnings, you can never earn less than 500 EQM.

The fast-track promotion requires 2 AS segments and 5K, 10K or 20K miles for MVP, MVPG & MVPG75K. A flight less than 500 miles earns 500 BIS miles towards your fast track goal as it does for organic requalification as it does for Million Miler Status.

I've always valued your opinions but I didn't realize AS was actually giving you miles for them....impressive.
