See below in the expanded wiki for the list of the reconfigured aircraft.

December 3, 2015 Alaska announced a reconfiguration of its fleet.

You can find the scheduled tail number of your flight here:

(replace as123 with as[your flight num])
However aircraft swaps are frequent, even up to the last hour.

Are you flying on 737-800? New config 738 have 4 fewer first seats than the old config.

Of course, the improvements in first on the reconfig aircraft may be enough to encourage more people to pay for first, which reduces upgrades.

Sorry I mean the 737-800 reconfigs are burning me. This is the 737-900 thread. The flights I am on used to mostly be 737-900s and now are completely reconfig'd 737-800s so that is getting me.

I see updated as of 8/23 w/72% done. Anybody wanna a hazard a guess for EWR-PDX first week of November which shows up as a 900---likely an ER. Oddly, the PDX-EWR flight shows up as a 800 but the return flight (presumably the same aircraft) shows up as a 900...have to buy my way home as no upgradeable mileage awards available. thanks

Does anyone know which rows to avoid on the reconfigured 737-900? Is it fair to assume any seat from around 30 DEF on back will be squished?

I can't speak much for coach as I never sit behind exit row, but for first class, I find the first row additional leg room is much better than the previous config, so I actually choose that rather than avoid it.

Yes, 30DEF to 34 DEF. Best non-PC/Exit Row seats are 18ABC to 22ABC.

Mod line slowed down for summer schedule to just scheduled heavy check aircraft, of which very few 900ER's. Mods should pick back up in pace soon as fall schedule takes effect.

Not sure I agree with that. We were on N275AK (refurbed 739ER according to the will) tonight (RDU - SEA) and row 1 still looked tight on legroom compared to the other rows. Personally at 5 11, I would avoid unless I had no other options

I would have to agree. While a little more room, I prefer to be in row 2 so I can stretch out fully under the row 1 seat. 😃

My options are Row 1 are Row 4. I had thought that many said the legroom in Row 1 was great and worth not being able to have your carry-on available at take-off and landing. Any recommendations should I get a refurbished airplane? Thanks!

I would take row 4. The risk of course is the downgrade to a 3 row 737 but at least to me row 1 didn't look appealing.

We were in row 2 and I had leg room for days (5 11) especially since there was plenty of room in the OH for both my rollerboard and my backpack.

Even when row 1 reclined, I still had plenty of room - it wasn't like some DL and UA planes in F where you feel trapped if the row in front reclines.

Aircraft into EWR don't necessarily turn back to the same destination now that AS is flying SJC/PDX and soon (or did it already start) SAN and 3X SEA...
