See below in the expanded wiki for the list of the reconfigured aircraft.

December 3, 2015 Alaska announced a reconfiguration of its fleet.

You can find the scheduled tail number of your flight here:
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/as123
(replace as123 with as[your flight num])
However aircraft swaps are frequent, even up to the last hour.

Yes, row 33 and 34 on the aircraft right is a reconfigured aircraft.

Yes, 900ER's with registrations N2XXAK are non-ETOPS as well as 900's with registrations N3XXAS.

Wow... you taught me something new today

I know the 300 series 739 was the launch 739 aircraft from Boeing. But I didn't know that AS was accepting deliveries of 739ER's that were not ETOPS.

I'm guessing all of the 737-MAX series will be ETOPS?

Isn't an ETOPS 737-MAX going to have extra equipment like rafts in the ceilings? If you don't mind not having ALL of your fleet capable of going to Hawaii, you could save some $$$...

Does ETOPS certification have a big price tag or is it more expensive to maintain the ETOPS aircraft? Just curious why they only do it on some of the -800s and -900s, rather than all?

AFAIK it's both cost and also operational complexity (inspections after X overwater legs, has to fly certain routings, etc.)

And the non-ETOPS birds must enjoy slightly lower fuelf burn too without hundreds of lbs of extra safety equipment...

Was on one of these recently on a short segment. The premium seats were kind of meh. I'm really not sure the extra legroom is sufficient to differentiate the product.

Not much more than a week later, with a "you gotta call" schedule change, segment 2 has changed to a 738 (and is now "5 minutes faster") and segment 1, which I didn't like the new "too short" connection time (I had the agent change) is on a 739 showing 4 rows, and the later flight (also a 739) is showing 4 rows.

Note that by September, there remain only 2 daily VX flights on the route.

I am seeing a lot more of my past and upcoming flights with reconfigured aircraft and I have been losing upgrades regularly as a result (#1 on the list, not clearing ) despite paying "instantly upgradeable" fares.

Not due to increasing numbers of reconfigured 739/ERs though. Well, not directly. Unless it's more desirable to pay for F on them now?

(I feel your pain on the missed upgrades!)

How does that work on a 739 when both old and new have 16F?
