Hmmm --

Methinks I smell the unmistakable aroma of a 10K mileage run.

Too bad I had to cancel. I'll be heading straight to BOS on 1/31. This will save me three days of travel time.

But who wouldn't want to go from Philadelphia to Boston via Hawaii

1/29/15 AS #97 SEA-ANC -- Was first on the waitlist, upgraded at approx T-6 as 75K

Currently running 7 out of 8 for 2015, only missed ANC-SEA earlier this week. All of my long-hauls, transcons cleared well in advance. That's been a relief.

AS675 1/29 ORD - PDX. As a 75K, 14th on an upgrade list of 49. Surreal. Same FAs that brought me yesterday. Would frankly have rathered that they be required to switch routes.

2/3 SEA-PHL AS 32 75K cleared at T-120
2/3 PHL-SEA AS 27 75K cleared at T-120

4/4 with upgrades so far. Looks like I might not get an upgrade on a SEA-LAS in a few weeks. The F cabin is already full. Oh well, I'd rather get an upgrade on a transcon than to Vegas ^

1-4 so far in 2015

1/19 SEA-LAX AS472 No UG #1 on list at T-0
1/21 LAX-SEA AS469 UG cleared T-30
1/25 SEA-AUS AS670 No UG #1 on list at T-0
1/29 AUS-SEA AS671 no UG #7 (or so) on list at T-0

And checked in for SEA-ATL AS746 tomorrow 2/2 and currently #11 on list

So...I status matched to MVPG75 from united 1k, so am new to Alaska. Is this typical? From reading this thread it looks like others are having better luck, but maybe just quirks of the flights I've been on...

This is odd, as a 75K, you should be at the top of the heap as far as upgrades go....I got MVP last May and MVPG last October and my wife and I are running 100% upgrades since becoming AS elites. I can't ever report where I was on the "upgrade list" because we always clear before the upgrade list shows up at T-24 (*knock on wood*). Everytime I book a flight, F is at least half empty (sometimes almost entirely empty) so the only ones that should be taking the seats before the upgrade windows are paid F and upgrade cert passengers and while I realize that some people actually do pay for F or use upgrade certs, most seats end up going to the elites at their respective upgrade windows and the elites on Y awards don't even get on the upgrade list so if you're a 75K and don't get upgraded, AS must be making $$ on all that paid F traffic (or giving it to Gold cert folks). Long story short, your experience is not "typical" and I don't think mine is either
