My approval came through a couple hours later. I applied from Mexico if that helps the folks who are applying from abroad. My guess is I'm SOL on the 5k bonus points though. Shucks.

BoA also just launched a new (well, a repeat of their previous) checking account promotion. If you have a linked checking account you get a 10% points boost (so foreign transactions/dining will earn 3.3%) - given the extremely low account minimums this is a no-brainer if you don't already have a checking account.
Bonuses are as follows:
$100 for $2000 in direct deposits in first 90 days
$300 for $5000 in direct deposits in first 90 days
$500 for $10000 in direct deposits in first 90 days
Offer can be found on DoC - link. Many datapoints of standard ACH transfers counting as direct deposits as well.

I applied and got notice that my application was on hold pending further review. I called to inquire and was advised the hold was due to the fact that I had frozen my credit report with all three agencies. I unfroze Experian and that did the trick - I'm in!

Applied and was instantly approved, they hard pulled my Experian CBR for anyone wondering. The new account immediately showed up in Online Banking/BoA app. Theres an option to view the card details in the app, but it wont let me view yet or add to Apple Pay. IIRC, it becomes available after 24-28 hours.

I just wish I could add the card to my Apple Wallet from the BofA app. Nope, can't do that unless you have the physical card with you because they want the expiration date and CVV which you can't pull up in account details. Every other "premium" card is addable within minutes of approval. But I put this mess on BofA, not Alaska.

Ugh, I was "declined" with the message below.

Called reconsideration and they said "you're not actually declined, we just need more information", and that a letter has gone out that I will need to complete, sign and return to BofA for "further consideration". I was expecting an instant approval as I have only 1 BofA card (another Alaska card which I've had for years), have active deposit accounts with them, and am at 1/12, 3/24 for new accounts, high income, 800+ score. Going on vacation next week so would have been awesome to have the card in hand, but there's nothing they can do to expedite the process.
