Interesting development on my Summit:

Today I noticed an “MLA CREDIT - ANNUAL FEE” transaction post on my first statement with the annual fee refunded in full. I’m not military and never indicated so.

Will call in to fix, but keep an eye out on yours. I would like to avoid a shutdown here.

This was happening to a lot of folks around the launch as well with no reason. Agents don't seem to have an explanation or are compelled to "fix" it.

How to apply an FA code?

An FA on a flight recently gave me her referral code for the Summit card (I asked). I can't find anywhere to apply/enter it on the Summit application though. Am I missing something?

My two lounge passes (and wifi passes) are probably going to expire tomorrow so shoot me a DM if anyone can use them

Heads up- there is not a way to share wifi codes. It's linked to your MP# and seat #.

Few questions about the card benefits before pulling the trigger.

1. Can I redeem points from my account for an award travel for a family member and then redeem the Global Companion Award (25K) cert for yet another family on the same reservation?

2a. I believe the Global Companion Award cert is only for redemption during the calendar year in which it has been issued, but can it be used for travel during the following year if award space is available?
2b. If 2a is possible, I would assume any changes made to the reservation in the new year will result in the cert "expired/no longer valid"?

3. If I redeem points for award travel for myself and pay for the fees using the Summit card, I will be able to check a bag for free, correct?

4. I think it offers rental car insurance coverage, but is it primary? Any real world experience with claims (assuming it will be the same coverage/company as other BofA cards)?

5. When exactly are the annual status points awarded upon renewal? If I apply now, does it mean I won't receive them until around March/April (anniversary)? Does this mean it would be more beneficial to apply earlier in the year?

TIA.

There is conflicting information. The BofA rules state the primary cardholder must be one of the travelers:

Each Global Companion Award may be used for a discount up to the stated value of points off a companion award booking when the primary cardholder redeems points for travel and is traveling with another guest on a published award ticket on the same itinerary, booked at the same time on AlaskaAir.com.

However the AS FAQ says otherwise:

Does the cardholder need to be traveling?
No. You can use your Global Companion Award to book for any two travelers of your choice.

2a. I believe the Global Companion Award cert is only for redemption during the calendar year in which it has been issued, but can it be used for travel during the following year if award space is available?
The certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue, not tied to calendar year.

2b. If 2a is possible, I would assume any changes made to the reservation in the new year will result in the cert "expired/no longer valid"?
You can make changes to the reservation as long as the certificate is not expired, i.e. 12 months from original issue.

3. If I redeem points for award travel for myself and pay for the fees using the Summit card, I will be able to check a bag for free, correct?
Yes, only for travel on AS/HA operated flights. This benefit does not extend to partners.

5. When exactly are the annual status points awarded upon renewal? If I apply now, does it mean I won't receive them until around March/April (anniversary)?
Correct.

Does this mean it would be more beneficial to apply earlier in the year?
Not sure it matters. If you apply at any time during 2026 you will get the bonus status points on your card anniversary in 2027 so they will count towards status qualification for 2028.

My anniversary is in October.
The spend tracker for my Global Companion Award is from October 2025-October 2026, so I assume that based on the above if I get it now, it will be valid until March 2027.

It is beneficial to apply earlier in the year, at least for the first qualification.
Say I have the ability to spend $60k within the first 3 months of the year. Then I either need to overspend another $20k ($80k total) to hit Gold status, assuming I don't fly AS at all, or sit and wait until October to get the 10k boost to push me to Gold.
I am not sure I can easily spend the $140k (plus 10k status points) necessary for Platinum.

Stupid question, if you don't fly AS at all, why do you care about obtaining AS elite status?

Hitting the status itself is super easy for me
3x on rent already hits AS Gold with no additional spend. WF banned me from Bilt 1.0 and I have no interest in the garbage fire that is Bilt 2.0
3x on foreign transactions (or 3.3x?) has no parallel so incremental spend is easy too

Putting incremental spend on this is fine too as it's not much worse than putting it on a BBP (I don't have any other MR cards) or CFU

UA has much better routes out of SFO for me than AS but happy to use it whenever I fly oneWorld

That's quite the acronym soup (WF / BBP / MR / CFU) which I don't know how to interpret, but what I'm reading is you can easily obtain oneworld elite status via AS just in case you may need it (or not). Good for you

Pretty much, I just put my rent on the card and instantly get AS Gold. Platinum is a different story though
