Hope they honor the 5k if I applied through website link instead of email since I did it before email came.

Both my wife and I applied using the link and both were denied. Not sure why but we are out of the country now and perhaps that is the reason, since our credit is good.

BofA is super picky when and where you apply. Call their reconsideration line which should help.

What is BofA picky about in particular? FICO? Income? Inquiries?

Thank you for the suggestion. We will have to do that upon our return home.

I am out of the country, too. Looks like the 5k bonus is good for 14 days, so I think I will apply next week when I get home. My most recent non-business card application was almost a year ago, so hopefully that will be sufficient.

I got stuck with "pending approval", as my address is changing and i put in my new address which probably doesn't show up yet on my credit report. I also foolishly applied from the website, having totally forgotten about the 5k bonus.

I want the summit card, and currently have the signature card. However, I dont want 2 BOFA credit cards with annual fees, but I also dont want to lose the 10 years of credit history I have with the signature card by closing the account if I apply for summit and get approved, can I downgrade my signature card to something without an annual fee?

other suggestions welcome!

Has anyone seen anything about upgrading the current card vs applying for a new one? Is there value in having both?

Seems like you'd need the Ascent for the companion fare and the Summit for point sharing and upgrade queue priority + global upgrade cert... does that track?

*Global Companion Cert which I guess you could use domestically if you aren't going global.

I called about upgrading my current card and they said it is possible, but you would not earn any welcome bonus.

Its more like their IT flags if you are out of country, cannot verify your phone number with text / call for new applications, or are using VPN. Sometimes I cant even log into bofa site to pay off my statement if Im not in the US.

Reading more about the Summit companion cert, it looks like the Summit is point based for award travel, so rather than $99 to cover any (economy) domestic flight they'll give you 25k points to apply to a companion award flight, assume like a discount if the award cost is more than 25k.

I wonder if that's a better value than the $99 deal.

My card was approved! I am a little confused about how the points sharing works. Is it, I as a Summit card holder, can share my miles with anyone? Can others share them with me? Or do they also need to be a Summit holder?
