The Swissport lounge at ORD T5 really needs to be dropped/booted from PP.
Every time, I run into the "only those with a 1st class ticket" thing the last couple years. I was able to talk myself in once since I only had a half hour before my flight. Of course it was empty anyway! They just don't want to bother hosting people. But now esp with Soutwest's expansion into T5 -- they'll never open for the general PP holders. I suspect PP really wants to keep them in their network just so they can say they have a lounge at ORD. It's a really crappy lounge anyway. Probably the worst I've seen in the US. I'd be really disappointed if I had a First class ticket and found that was what was offered. I usually don't even bother trying but flight is delayed so I have 2+ hours here. Usually, they've been rude about PP when I've tried in the past. Edit: Tried again 1.5 hours later. Several people in line and I heard them tell two people no PP, of course, so I just left again. My expectation is to never get in so it's what I expect. |
This thread continues to show how whether PP is useful or useless depends entirely on one's travel patterns.

I got an additional Priority Pass for my Ritz Carlton card without asking. Can I still use the old card without being charged or do I have to use the new card? Neither is expired and the account I made with the first card is still in the app.

One can have more than one Priority Pass account. See Posts # 69 (caveat that technically they should be under different names) (?) & 103, supra. Use whichever card gives you the best benefits under the circumstances. You may end up seldom or never using one of them.

I've got a CSR card and an attached Priority Pass. Logged into the PP app, I find the Plaza Premium lounge at BNE listed. But, when I tried to enter the lounge I was denied. Trying my wife's CSR-related PP card got us the same result. I know about the recent restaurant benefit devaluation, but found nothing else about recent changes. Did I miss something? I guess I'll ask Chase but I figured I'd ask here first to see if others have had issues with Plaza Premium of late. The error sh:(wn on the login terminal was this:

.... I also see Plaza Premium Lounge when searching with my Capital One Venture X PP account.

Strangely, this evening I used the PP app and searched for BNE (I'm in POM at the moment) and I do n:eek:t see the BNE Plaza Premium lounge listed. This morning, when I was in BNE it just showed up as the nearest lounge.

FWIW, Pri:(rity Pass emailed me back this:
Hi Xyzzy, Thank you for getting in touch. I am sorry to hear that you were denied access. There has been changes and you card issuer has removed all the access at BNE, hence you could not access the lunge. Please stay logged into your online account to see which lounges you can access. |

I'm now trying to determine who at Chase to discuss this with. Could have been worse. |

Today a new FlyerTalker posted about having five Priority Pass accounts with separate log-in details. Perhaps different usernames or e-mail addresses?

FWIW, I got a reply from Chase that said (in part) that the change I ran into was part of their recent dropping of the restaurant benefit (bold added):
Allow us to share that beginning July 2024, customers will no longer have access to restaurants, cafes and markets participating in Priority Pass Select. Access to Priority Pass Select network of lounges and other select airport experiences are not affected by this update. All other Priority Pass benefits will remain the same. However, all participating lounges are owned and operated by third party operators. Access and length of stay may be restricted due to space constraints and otherwise at sole discretion of each lounge operator. |
So, hell froze over as I'm somehow in the Swissport lounge with PP. The selection is even more limited than when I was in here last. The section on the left that had fresh fruit is gone..just the fridge and the back section with liquor, oatmeal, oranges, hot water soup and packaged Muffins. They do have grey goose.
It's slow so there must be few international flights must not be scheduled right now that would normally have people in here. Edit: There were cold tiny sandwiches in the fridge and one Stella Artois which I snagged. No diet coke. Seems like they are slow refilling the fridge. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...154380cc02.jpg

Swissport was no go for PP at 1pm as usual. I will say that the lounge dragon was nice in explaining to the couple in front why they never get in. She said there's actually supposed to be more space on one side but they only have 2-3 people working, so it's never open. She mentioned something about their only being 55 or so seats available in their open lounge space, and as has been said here many times, it's reserved for premium classes of those participating airlines.
