KE lounges suck. Is there any major airline with consistently worse lounges? Even their "flagship" lounges at ICN are pathetic.
How are OZ's lounges? |

In my case, it is free. Chase says PP is complimentary and my cost is $0 for PP. Let me explain. My annual fee is $450/year. I always get back $300 travel incident which bring it down to $150/year. This year I use the free night certificate and 15000 marriot points to book at St Regis Rome which is around $1000/night. In my point of view, I made a profit from my credit card and my cost for my credit card is $0.

Totally worthless

My take as well. I have both Amex Plat and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Leaving aside PP, I value the other benefits of those cards as greater than their annual fees. So for me the PP card is just a gravy benefit. I don't expect much of the lounges that take PP, but they usually provide drinks and food that would have cost me $20-40 in the terminal.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Hblocal!
What do you mean by "totally worthless"? My post? The Lounge at SFO? My restaurant recommendations for Terminal 1 at SFO? Priority Pass, which I used to get into The Lounge at SFO? |

This. Consumers don't care what it costs to visit PP -- however, they were marketed a "premium experience" card, often billed as luxurious. Akin to airline cards promising you "early boarding!" only to find yourself in zone 4/5/6. For me. So you sign up for a premium card and get a less than premium experience; it is the expectations setting, I guess, For some customers who don't travel as much, the card's benefits are aspirational, so that one time every now and then you want to use benefits or give your spouse a special experience you find yourself locked out of the lounge or in what feels like an auto dealer waiting room and you are disappointed.
I get value out of a card on its a cash basis, with PP being a random benefit I may use once a year when I find it nice to have, but whatever, just like some other benefits I'll never use like "concierge services" (which I have friends that use extensively and love it, btw). I'd offer up CLEAR in similar vein for me, I signed up based on the reimbursement but don't think of it as an actual benefit because I don't find CLEAR useful at my typical airports. |
It has been over five months since I've been able to use Priority Pass for the meagre little lounge at ORD. Every time, I ask about the hours, and like magic they say something that is a bit after my flight leaves. They don't even know when my flight leaves, so it really is like magic.
In the terminal I stay. :( |

This depends on the airport. Are they better always than some dedicated airlines lounges? It depends. In Asia in general, certainly the lounges that accept PP are fairly good.

Good point, I have had decent lounges in Middle East and Asia. Typically I am lucky to be in business class or use my *G lounge access so it is less critical for me. There have been a few instances (like last year in Ecuador, Galapagos to just hang and eat, maybe Peru too) where it saved us just for restroom access without massive lines, where I found it priceless.

Agree. I'll add Mexico, Central America, and Africa as places I've used my Priority Pass. I'm careful to include it in my travel pack as I never know when I'll spot a lounge in an airport where there aren't lounges to which I have membership or can access based on class of service of my ticket. I've never paid for my Priority Pass; it's a benefit of several credit cards. Thus, any value I get from it is a pleasure.

I Got in again Tues Oct 22 in the morning (8am). There were plenty of empty seats at that time. I'll be trying again Sunday in the morning. I'm less confident I'll get in on weekend day but I'll report back.

Interesting that in DOH, they send you to another lounge, if the original lounge is full as per PP. They give a voucher to be taken and shown to the other lounge. I forgot the names.

But my lounge issues never have anything to do with "crowding" -- after all, I am adding to the mix. Rather, this particular one is weirdly designed, and has a very ehem, cozy dining area. Plus, the acoustics are terrible. Not to mention, just getting into the lounge is a mess, since the elevator and escalator deposit passengers into two different places to muck up the queue. |
