Sadly this really seems to be taking effect now, if in the past I could combine AZ & KL flights, e.g. (AZ) AMS-FCO-TLV, (KL)TLV-AMS for a reasonable price, now it only quotes for >1K€, with the KL segment in fare class B

Published today in AgentConnect

Translation (PS : I have to say I don't understand at all the sentences in red, so don't flame me if the translation is unclear )

Due to the change in our partnership with AZ, the following changes have been made for the airfares, starting today :
- it is not possible to combine fares with AZ, except for trips falling into the North Atlantic JV between :
o Europe and USA, Canada and Mexico
o Asia, Africa, Middle esat and USA/Canada

- On intra-Europe itineraries including flights AFKL-marketing/AZ-operating to/from Rome, AFKL fares are not applicable anymore. AFKL fares applicable to Rome trips will apply only on KL-operating flights. AF-operating flights will be added to AFKL fares next week to include Rome and Milan

For already issued tickets :
- already issued tickets remain valid
- changes on onward flight coupon (unused ticket) will be re-emitted applying the new fare rules and will not allow a combination with an AZ fare
- changes of all other flight coupons will be re-calculated taking into account the originally-paid fare wich still allows combinability with AZ

For non-issued tickets :
- a grace period is applied until 20 JAN 2017
The new fare conditions will apply to all tickets issued after this date.

Not that I can say I understand.... but
I went to KLM website to take a look at AMS-FCO flights, for a random date in the future, and the options are:
KL/AF operated, for ~120€
AZ operated, for 300€+, and the return must have a connection

I also tried AMS-MLA, which used to work very nicely with an AZ connection in FCO, and it is gone...

So basically, forget about using KL to book AZ operated flights AMS-FCO(-XXX). AZ still offers AMS-FCO-XXX, even with AMS-FCO operated by KL.

The sentences in red merely draw the consequences of new AFKL intra-European fares no longer allowing codeshares on AZ-operated services.
For new tickets, it means that AFKL fares will require flights to be on AFKL metal and not AZ. It seems that, for some reason, AF flights were not included in some of these fares (i.e. they allowed KL only) and this will be changed.

For existing tickets, if you change the first sector, the same principles will apply (this is because changes to the first fare component normally requires you to use fares in existence at the time of re-ticketing).

If you change a segment other than the first fare component, you can normally use historical fares (i.e. fares existing when you originally booked your ticket). The text in red applies that here: in that situation, therefore, you can still use AZ-operated codeshares since the fare rules allowed that when you originally booked your ticket.

That's not good. At least for people who need to do business in Milano. I hope AF doesn't leave Linate.

Both AF and KL will offer a free limousine service to all those passengers departing from MXP and connecting to long-haul services in Business and La Première. The offer is, at least for the time being, only valid from March 26th to December 31st.

KLM's announcement mentions 3 daily flights from MXP. Flights aren't loaded in the schedule yet.
