So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

For sure! But I specifically called out Op-ops, as in upgrades without credits (I received a number of them last year, of course because Y was full)

And did OLCI offer me the eUpgrade option? Of course not.

Edit: Forgot to mention it's J1

Starting to think I should have taken an under the table "LMU" offer yesterday on SFO-YYZ for $299
What is an under the table LMU? Does it, by chance, involve titbits?

Having never received an opup, I'm less inclined to care, but the logic is sound! Copays hurt SEs too

Someone whose upgrade did clear offered to trade with me for $299

Ah sorry I misread. Are OpUps really that common? I've only received 1 and the GA made sure to tell me it was for "weight balancing" purposes.

I've gotten a fair number, always because they needed to get more people into Y. (oversell, or because people miss earlier connections and get put on later ones, etc).

They are more common on peak (non business) travel times. Such as reading week, spring break, summer vacation, sun destinations, etc.

I've had exactly 2 op-ups with ~6 years as an Elite, both due to oversold Y, so not common in my experience. As OP mentioned, highly dependent on route/timing. I think both of my op-ups were domestic flights on Sunday morning, so not a common time for business travelers. Can be more common on a route with low J loads.

Yow fra. $1549

I passed as we are traveling as a family of three and my son will sit in the back. Y is wide open so he can sleep three across. Would use eUPS anyway but don't want to waste 14 credits either.

Has anyone ever been offered an LMU from YYZ (Stoping in YVR) to SYD?

I have read on this thread that they do not offer LMUs on this route because of the stop in Vancouver.

Any insight is appreciated!

At about T-12 hours or so:

March 16 - YEG-YOW (AC104): $488 declined. I ended up getting a operational upgrade anyway (oversell)

March 18 - YOW-YYC (AC167): $488 declined. Likely no opup on this one as lots of Y seats still left

YUL - YOW from Tango T-24 $109. Are they serious for a 45 minute flight? Declined

Hah. I've never flown that route in anything with a J cabin.
