I still don't understand the J seats number reduction. We traveled to POP a week ago (sadly going back to YXU tomorrow). When I booked this trip towards the end of December, I snatched up the last 2 D seats on the flight. There was only one available J seat when we checked in (snatched up by Mrs. Wildcat as my nominee). So it seems like 15 of the 16 seats were paid for. Isn't AC leaving money on the table? After all, POP isn't even an extremely popular destination.

Sounds like they're sticking around longer than that. It's just going to take them 3-4 years to make them not suck as bad as they do. No idea why they can't just let maintenance take out a row or two and re-space the remaining seats some weekend until they can do an actual refresh.

Give them the 320- treatment: new carpet, seats and WiFi... Do the full refurb later

The new 737's come to Kelowna Flightcraft from the factory.

What work is KF performing?
Just curious.

I was once told by "someone who works at the airport" that wi-fi was done there. However, I don't think this lines up with what I remember reading here in another thread.

I think they are doing more than WiFi there, FIN501 is there and is supposedly the first rouge MAX.

They also get a third flight sensor add for additional safety.

Angle of attack sensor.

Originally came with one, 2nd was a factory option (now standard). You can get a third software based AOC sensor, iirc

Following the 737 MAX groundings, regulatory authorities, particularly EASA, mandated the addition of a third Angle of Attack (AoA) sensor to enhance redundancy and safety.

Thats my thought as well, and some FAs who fly the vacation routes shared the same thoughts about it. When the J seats are full, why get rid of them?

Maybe they arent all full

Full =/= revenue sales, could be from upgrades or staff standbys.

I'm sure AC had the financial data to make that decision and also looking at the bigger picture into Rouge's model. Perhaps it's more profitable/reliable to sell ACV packages with 12 extra economy class seat than 4 people willing to pay business class fare. Not to mention there's still a 8 net increase in headcount, that's 2-4 more ACV packages/hotel rooms sold.

Also people are likely be willing to downgrade than otherwise being priced out of a trip because the only seats available is in business class or the flight being completely full.

While I think getting there is (more than) half the fun, most people flying on Rouge to sun destinations see the flight as merely a mean of transportation and usually put price over comfort.

New build FIN 541 C-GMLS has entered into service yesterday as AC238 YVR-YEG. Interestingly it went into service with Mainline (and the AC app shows mainline seat map J16/Y153), and not directly to Rouge...

In other news, FIN 509 C-FSIP has been at YQG since Feb 7 - any chance it's getting Rouged there?

Yep flew on FIN 541 yesterday and definitely still in the mainline configuration. It's interesting that AC decided to put in the mainline cabin layout instead of directly putting the Rouge layout unless they are expecting the transition to take a while.
