FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition and 2019 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

I missed some news about you at some point, Cow. Enjoy whatever adventure you’re off for. How long are you in EU? Plans to go anywhere else? I’ll be in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Poland in the coming weeks. Micro DO in an EU city of your choosing?

I'm not convinced I can enter Schengen, and I'm even less convinced the calf can.

We flying into ZAG now and out on the 25th. If we can leave the country, we will, but we're not depending on it.

But I'll keep you in mind if things work out. Germany would be a likely destination if we can get in.

I made it to 0030 last night, and I managed to sleep until 0700, so I'm now functional. Still not quite where I'd like though.

Looking for advice from the experienced. What would you choose as best manner to transport an all in one 27" desktop? Due to COVID uncertainty and fallout, we are abandoning the TO condo. It was purchased as the primary home/business computer for base TO less than a year ago with the intention of a much longer stay.
We kept the packaging, but not sure if we should pay to ship it or consider bringing it as special checked baggage. Any ideas which would see better handling? J cabin carry on indulgence isn't an option due to our final short hop in a Q400 whose bins sometimes won't even fit regulation carry ons.
EDIT after talking to DW - 27" not 24.

I'd use a flight case for any important gear that doesn't fit in carry on.

Another option: take out the hard drive, carry that on, and check in the tower when necessary

Its an all in one - screen included; no tower and no easy access to HD. Think it is SSD anyway, so less worried there.

My first flight in a while.

The 787 cockpit isn't exactly how I remembered it:

In my mind this is how the dashboard of my car appears when passengers start playing with the stereo. Don't touch the red knob!

Is that a Beaver? I thought the Otters had updated digital avionics.
