This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition and 2018 edition.
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Mr. Robot star Rami Malek wins an Oscar for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody and then falls off the stage and was treated by paramedics. Lucky Oscar survived unbent and unbroken but more drama than I'm sure the audience expected.

Leafs spanking lowly Oilers tonight. Rather cheer for Buds in playoffs than Flames.

Yup. The top scorers are scoring but there's a shaky D and little extra scoring from 3rd & 4th lines. Lucic $6M per year contract for his season point total of 16 is so out-of-whack he should be bought out or placed on waivers or something as he's just dead weight. So much promise, so little results...

I love this. To me it's an interesting piece of art. In his video, he walks around the table so you can see if from all angles

Waiving him and sending him to the minors would save about $1MM of cap space, but a buyout probably isn't a great option, since the cap hit is halved but gets spread over 2x the remaining life of the deal. If they bought him out today, he would be on the books for another decade. Even if they waited and bought him out in the summer, it would still be until 2027.

Isn't -30C something that occurs every year in YYC? Sure more days than normal this year, but it's like it's never been -30C?

This past month was the coldest in Edmonton in 40 years and IIRC one of the five coldest Feb. since records began being kept. Now that's cold. It felt like Feb. had 35-days.

For February. But surely we get colder weather occasionally, although perhaps usually for colder periods and earlier through winter.Anyway, nothing better than being away for most of it. Sardinia was nice.

This sucks! Flames playing good but losing 3-0 to the Leafs, with all the obnoxious Leafs fans (drunk NFLD’rs from Fort Mac)! I need another drink of single-malt!!

Actually, typically the lowest point is lower than that. Lowest I remember is -38. As to longer than "normal," not so sure. Later than usual, yes. Long and cold for late February.
