A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
    • Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

Only 1 of 4 330's from TAP have been delivered, fin 939 (TAP CS-TOU). CS-TOV is in the process of being transferred from TAP to AC. That might be the 330 that you saw. CS-TOW & CS-TOX are still flying with TAP.

Fin 940 (C-GEGC) did a 1 hour test flight LIS-LIS on May 13. Still on the ground in LIS.

AC A330 or BA A380

Hello all

i am planning to fly from Dublin to Vancouver on the 27th July and return 1st August.
2 options: Either BA Premium economy via London on A380 or AC Premium economy via Montreal on A330.
i can see on google flights that AC A330 from Dublin is on ex Singapore plane with angle flat seats for PE. is that accurate?
Has anyone flew with one of them before? The price is almost the same pretty much but i would rather fly on angle flat seat instead of a proper PE.
Any suggestions?
i am gold with star alliance and silver with BA.

The SQ birds pre-config will be a nice option while they are around.

I have gotten some great naps on them when they flew for Singapore. The pitch will be much better than your standard PE

Of course, there could always be an Equipment swap or reconfig done, so manage expectations

Will be flying on 330s YYC-YYZ next week. Do the new builds (this shows 1 1 1 business class configuration) have overhead bins in the center seats in J cabin now?

Haven't flown a 330 for a few years so haven't a clue what they look like these days. This may have been answered somewhere on this thread but couldn't find off the bat.

I was just going to ask same as Bomber. YVR-YUL next week. First time on an AC A333. At least my seat won’t deflate.

If the price is similar (or even slightly more expensive) prior to being refurbished, these aircraft will be the best things flying for a PE experience.

I’m not sure what you mean by “new builds” since the existing mainline 333s (FINs 931-938) have been 1-1-1 ever since the classic pod J product was installed. These are “layout 1” on AC’s fleet page and do not have centre overhead bins in J. If you can, grab an A seat so you’re not fighting for space.

I guess that answers my question. The 330s on domestic routes haven't been upgraded yet (if ever?).

The 330s are used on both domestic and international routes. The most recent upgrade they’ve received is the conversion of the second, “mini” J cabin into a PY cabin, thereby making the plane a 3-cabin aircraft. Well, maybe that’s not an upgrade depending on how you look at it since there are now fewer J seats onboard

The pods (and entertainment system) are all still the old style, ie not the one launched with the Dreamliner. The J hard product matches the remaining mainline 767s and differs from the more modern 777/787 product.

This.

(and the removal of mini-J also meant the removal of the starboard lav between the two Js)

Can't believe they still don't have overhead bins in the J cabin in the center. The FAs were remarking that they had run out of bin space before J cabin was fully boarded (and it went out with some empty seats). Boarding early helped in my case at least.

Oh well--was a good redeye out and and nice morning flight back from YYZ--both on 330s. They even made a cappuccino that didn't seem to cause any issues! Not as hot as I would like but about as warm as most I had in Vienna.^

The other thing I don't like about the AC 333, at least in J (along with the no middle overhead bins in J), is the lack of an adjustable overhead air nozzle.
Too bad they can't retroactively add those in as part of/the refurbs.
