A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
    • Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

Even though I suspect the square footage used remains more or less the same in all cases.
Actually, yes, you are right. I was thinking the opposite effect. So hopefully the 333 J cabin will have a similar to the seat entrance berth as the 788/789!

YUL-CMN AC Mainline now - A330 - still classic pod?

Starting June 1, AC now is operating the YUL-CMN route instead of AC Rouge. Per AC and FlightAware it's being operated with an A330 that has the classic pod configuration best I can tell. Does AC plan to replace the classic pods with their nice new executive pods? Or just going to ride the old classic pod till it dies?

Pricing on the YUL-CMN in J (return) is pretty great for the winter right now....

Yes, still classic pods atm. IIRC, there are plans to refurb J to the new seats. Others might know the timeframe.

According to AC's Q1 financials:

The reconfiguration of the Airbus A330 aircraft is expected to begin in late 2019 for completion in the first half of 2020.
So it will probably be close to two years before one can be guaranteed a new pod on the 333s.

Well at least it's no longer a Rouge flight.

I just got booked on premium economy on a YUL-YVR flight on a 333 next January. Is 12D good? Seatguru paints it yellow but I don't trust Seatguru, unlike my fellow forum members All 21 seats are shown to be available so moving to 13D or 13G is not a problem. (I will stick to aisle seats in the center block because I hate when I need to crawl over people and if I manage to fall asleep, my seatmate has a better option than waking me -- wake the other guy instead! :P )

Row 12 is great, you get some extra room and nobody reclining into you. My preferred row.

Mrs. Plumber and I just sat in 12A and 12C on DUB-YYZ days ago. I am not a fan of those seats and would choose row 13 next time. I felt Row 12 has very little leg room (I do not have long legs). At least in Row 13 you can put your feet under the seat in front of you and you have a foot rest (no foot rest in Row 12) .

It could just be that only once in recent years have I had to sit behind J cabin on a widebody, and was my first time in PE INTL, but I would not sit in Row 12 again.

A330 Upgrades

Hi everyone

Sorry if this has been discussed, I couldn’t find it elsewhere. I’m looking at flying DUB-YYZ next summer in J and wondering if the A330 interior upgrades will be finished by then? Any insight as to the new cabins?

Thanks

There will be nothing but speculation on this topic as nothing has been announced yet.... IMHO it's unlikely many, if any, of the A333 will have a refreshed J cabin by next summer.

Yes, it has been announced. Reconfiguration starts in late 2019, to be completed early to mid 2020. There are 4 more A330s joining the fleet in 2019 but not clear when yet.

An interesting article on OMAAT this morning about the 4 new A330's joining the fleet.

There are now flying with TP, but originally from SQ. When the new Fins are introduced they will not be reconfigured to AC's standards, so the original SQ regional business class seat will still exist until the end of 2019. These will instead be sold as PE, and not J.

Wow, that’s real nice! It’s a good J product.

What is a good J product? SQ Regional Business seats? or the new 787/777 style "Signature Class" seats that aren't on any A330s yet let alone the 4 new ones?
