Accessing the "old" website.
At the moment (09-Sep-2016) accessing the old and functional website is still possible.
The procedure to access the old website requires a few steps.
1. Clear all aircanada.com related cookies and browser cache.
2. Go to this URL. https://www.aircanada.com/en/go-beta.html
3. Click on book travel Button at the top left of the screen.
Alternatively for some clicking on one the following links will work for some as well.

And the new site was just unable to take a payment from a cc or make a flight pass booking for me. That is wicked awesome AC. I wonder how many people are just booking on another airline because AC's primary POS system (point of sale or piece of ^%#^ both work there) doesn't actually work right now?

Hello and welcome to Air Canada's awesome new website. We are currently experiencing higher levels of incompetence than normal. We obviously don't care about your business so go ahead and book with another airline. We know we are soooo awesome that you'll come crawling back soon. In the meantime as you try, try again to book even the simplest of itineraries, please enjoy our version of the spinning wheel of death until your computer gives up. Thank you and have a miserable day.

Made a booking this morning easy until it kicked me over to the new beta site for seat selection
Not as easy as the old site. first thing one needs to get used to is reading the large font. after looking at the smaller fonts.
There is probably a reason why every thing is so large, more older hard of seeing customers.

I might've missed this upthread, but another major gripe is the inability to print the fare summary page without the numbers (i.e. the important part) being cut off. It's like they don't want us to be able to document the fares they display or something

Did anyone else have this experience? Using Firefox this afternoon, could only get beta version. No option to switch to old site as others have mentioned upthread.
Concur with others about the beta site. Couldn't get the typical list of flight options for my route/travel days. Very irritating.
FYI, Explorer could be "tricked" into the old site.
