Sorry... it's flown by MI (SilkAir), which is an SQ subsidiary but one that isn't a member of Star Alliance - only bookable with KrisFlyer miles. Therefore, you won't be able to fly that.

Hey Guys,

Was checking out the new chart and it shows Asia 2 to Asia 2 will cost 20K rt. I tried to find flights from SIN to REP on SQ for Mar 16-21 next year when I visit Sin but it is not showing on aeroplan.com. ( Hoping to do a side trip from Sin).

Do I need to call in on this one or is there a glitch in the system? Date I hoping to get Mar 16-21. Any help will be most appreciated. Will be first time using my aeroplan miles. :)

Depending on how desperate you are to redeem miles for this, you can do this on BA Avios for 24,000k +$65 in taxes in economy R/T on Malaysian Airlines. You can get it through several RBC credit cards (BA Card, Avion Card). Not quite 20,000 Aeroplans, but pretty close.

On the other hand, JetStar Asia flies it, which is probably REALLY cheap - far cheaper than 20K miles (@roughly 1.5 cpm) + taxes.

Dec 1, 2016 EWR-YYZ on UA J
Nov 1, 2017 YYZ-WAW on LOT J
Nov 30, 2017 WAW-YYZ on LOT J
Nov 30, 2017 YYZ-EWR (throwaway)

Double devaluation mileage dump. Can change routing for 2017 flights to add stopovers, change airlines, even change cities if I understand correctly.

Assuming availability of course...

Cheers

Seems like such a hassle... So you have to book the entire 90K award round trip from what I understand... and pay the taxes?

That's correct.

Dec 1
Timely reminder for everyone that new change will kick in Dec 15
Sadly I am all booked for 2016 already (AC price error + Mini-RTW in Y), can't squeeze in anything for 2016 and 2017 is way into the future

Similar dilemma as the BKK change of regions. Have a o/w YYZ-WAW in biz. WAW changes from Europe 1 to Europe 2 next week, goes up 12.5K. Must change travel date from May to next fall.

Should I just cancel/redeposit and pay the $90 fee, or cancel/rebook and pay the $60 fee. Is there a possibility that the additional miles would be required? Also can I change travel direction without paying the additional miles?

Actually, alc's answer was exactly right, and it follows what I wrote earlier.

The *maximum* duration of your ticket can be exactly 1 year from the first flown flight. So in your example, this would not quite work that way: the right way to make it work is as follows:

* Dec 14, 2015: book travel for Dec 1, 2016 first flight, Dec 10, 2016 throwaway flight (but be careful... not many airlines release space that far ahead, so you need to make sure you actually have availability!)
* Leave your ticket in a drawer for a year.
* Fly the Dec 1, 2016 flight on that day, in a year from now.
* On landing, immediately call Aeroplan and reschedule the rest of the trip to end on Dec 1, 2017 or before (ENTIRE trip must be complete within 1 year of departure (maybe arrival) of the first flight).
* Find a way to get home by yourself from wherever flight #1 took you, hopefully not too far.

Sorry for the misinformation. I was wrong with the above. I just called Aeroplan back because something was weird there, and it looks like the last agent didn't explain this correctly.

You don't have to FLY the first flight to be able to reschedule. You just need to schedule it on the last day. So the revised plan is as follows:

- Book throwaway flights on Dec 14, 2015. This is the only date that matters.
- Call middle of 2016. You MUST fly at least one flight by Dec 14, 2016. But you don't have to fly it in order to book onwards travel. You can do this right away.

So you must still use up a stop, but it doesn't have to be a throwaway if you can get back from there easily, but at least you're not in a situation where you flew the outbound, and are stuck with a nonrefundable ticket, which is what my original suggestion was.

Just booked my Asia 1 - Asia 1 (BKK-ICN) in business today for November of next year. It's actually going to be part of my mini-RTW next year, but this way I get some more stops.

2 days left (today and tomorrow) to book

Sadly I have nothing to book :(

This was asked earlier on, but I couldn't find a definitive reply. Currently, YYZ-PER almost always routes through BKK or SIN. Does this mean that the points will go up, even without a stopover at either of these?

hastuk Dec 13, 2015 8:23 am

Was able to get through to Aeroplan to make my change - Europe 1 - Asia 1 originally, now it is Europe 1 - Asia 2 (in the future). Did the change on Dec. 9, change fee charged but the taxes etc still reflect the old itinerary. Called today (Dec 13), and was told that the adjustment of taxes and fees was in a queue. So, once this trip is done next November, my relationship with Aeroplan will end. Very few points left. Thanks to jerryhung for suggesting I just call in rather than cancelling and calling in. $90 rather than $90 + $30.

They must be really far behind with the deval.
Have been waiting on one ticket for taxes to be calculated since Tuesday night (they ll call back ) Nothing can do until Monday apparently now.

In the meantime BR flights have been falling off the res like clockwork at 48 hours after booking.

If no stop, then no change in points. Only if you add a stop will it change.

Let them fall off, then force them to buy you a revenue ticket. :D
