There is another change that is creeping in slowly----I was looking for NRT-YYC in Feb. It routed me ( priority awards) NRT-YVR-YYC with the NRT-YVR in Y and YVR-YYC in J but full J award redemption cost. The flight has 60% seats open according to the chart. AP is doing this more and more. If I were to do something like this I will fall afoul of laws but AP keeps getting away with this. (Of course I can pay 967000 mies and get a market fare seat but I refuse to do this as I think that is a bigger rip off!)

Not to mention they can't even book intra-Japan online (because taxes are $0) so any reservation requires a call into the call center, and arguing with agents for an hour that the $30 fee should be waived. Not really sure an intra-Japan flight is even worth 4500 Avios miles when I can book the same thing (HND-OIT) for 10,800 yen on ANA experience Japan fare. |
