*FAQ:
Q: On the 787-9 (789), which seats in J are missing windows?
A: Rows 5 and 8 on both port and starboard sides have only one window, instead of two on all other port/starboard J seats.

Q: On the 787-8 (788), which seats in J are missing windows?
A: Only row 5 port and starboard sides have zero windows.

Q: Does the middle J seats' middle divider come down?
A: No, on the 788 and 789 the middle divider does not come down and is fixed in place. In fact, all Dream Cabin (788, 789, 77L, 77W) middle dividers are fixed and do not come down.

If I had to guess IŽd say:

YVR-SYD: 77L
YVR-ICN: 787
YYZ-HND: 787
YVR-HKG: 77P
YYZ-HKG: 787

The equipment used on the other routes to Asia would very much depend on the frequency (e.g. 1 flight per day vs. 1 flight ex-YYZ and ex-YVR each).
I suspect when they refurbish the 777, they'll do both the current ones and the sardine can ones, both with same arrangement as in the 787.

Only reason for the sardine cans being expediency. They got them cheap, were going to use them for something else. Found a half-baked logic to use them as they are now.

Mind you, if they all end up with 10 seats across, they'll all end up more or less ardine cans.

But there must be CW reward availability correct? How far in advance can you do this?

Equivalent to crapping all over a book you haven't read or movie you haven't seen. Also, I find the use of the word "slaveships" to describe a modern aircraft with individual seats, TVs, hot meals and washroom facilities to not only be gross hyperbole but truly offensive.
as another notes, unless you have been living under a rock, on average 25% of Canadians are obese [by all means feel free to check to see if i am making this up]...that is right...not overweight, but obese. then factor those that are just overweight and you are talking about half of Canada my friend.

the 77L and the Old 77W were "close" to the line on comfort IMO for a person that was not "average". put an overweight/obese person in those seats, and they are uncomfortable.

it is therefore a perfectly reasonable assumption that the new seats will be worse. and really bad for 50 percent of the population of this country.

individual TVs ceased to be revolutionary years ago when tablets fell to dirt cheap levels.

and really, your selling point is a hot meal and washrooms? that my friend, is truly offensive.

Yes, I believe you can do it 3 months out, I have always had luck with it out of YUL as J is mostly empty on this flight.

this is OT but it depends. sometimes right away, some times right at the last minute. what i do know is typically not at the time of a good WT+ sale or CW sale since I seem them back out CW and F award space for those as they don't want to just give away CW if they can sell it at a decent discount.

However obese people qualify for a free extra seat. Assuming they (1) recognize they are and (2) go through the hoops.

While these seats may be bad for 50%, I suspect most will put up with it if it's cheaper. welcome to today's airline reality.

Real problem has to do with employers who will expect you to travel in these conditions.

you are probably right. [Added, the stat for men is 60% either obese or overweight...]

i am actually pleased with the J seats...and thankfully, my employer pays for me to fly there...[although in return, i am carrier agnostic and seek out the best deal in a product i can sleep in, even if that means layover or longer flight times]

Should have mentionned this is YUL -specific, the AC crews on YUL-CDG are consistently awful, always get better service with BA and AF on these Euro flights. Service with a scowl takes a lot of the enjoyment out of flying.

I'd like to know if AC is going to auction off seats for the inaugural flight like many airlines have done in the past?

People may be getting bigger, but they are also getting more price conscious. If you want more space then you'll have to pay for it (or go on a diet!).

We look forward to seeing you onboard this exciting new aircraft beginning next year; in the meantime, learn more about Air Canada’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet by visiting 787.aircanada.com.[/QUOTE]

dear air canada dude
your frequent flyer is the worst thing around, and I include Delta's program in the equation, that there is aboslutely nothing AC can do to convince me to fly with them, ebven if it means connections or higher fares
you are probably in the wrong forum talking to the wrong audience to try and convice flying on AC, which is a great airline, but with the most discusting and disrespectful program
these are just my 2 cents and have no doubt that AC doesnt give a rat's ... about it

Feel free to be offended - personal space on slave ships was 6 feet long by 16 inches wide, for people that were a lot skinnier than we are. We get a full extra inch of width, and a lot less length.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookes_(ship)
This is not to say that slave ships were comfortable. To the contrary, it is to point out how uncomfortable modern economy class is. With the padding essentially gone from the seats, you are not that far from sitting on a wooden plank either

You can have my TV and hot meal any day. I want my space (and my bathroom, of which there aren't many in the sardine cans either).

If all the 767's go to Rouge, what (or who) will operate YHZ-LHR in the future? (Currently 767 XM'd).
