I should have been clearer.
If you are "allready" a Black or Diamond, you will get 10 or 15,000 points in march with the card hooked to your aeroplan acct.
That makes the card 25 or 30,000 points to the good for
$120.00 (not that bad,) (but that's just my opinion, and I may be wrong)

I agree that the sign up incentives for all three TD AE cards are very disappointing. The 25000 bonus for TD Aeroplan Privilege is paltry when you have to shell out an annual fee of $399. And no waiving of first year's fee. So far, I have not received anything from CIBC (my regular bank) whether I am staying with them or 'sold' to TD

This will make it pretty easy to cancel my CIBC aeroplan infinite and stop collecting aeroplan. These TD offers are a joke and the card with the $200k requirement is laughable if you look at the benefits.Compare it to an amex plat (subtract yearly travel credit and fees are very close), not even in the same league.
But it must be working for them if they keep on running it this way. Its a plan for people that derive satisfaction from gaining (useless) distinction levels and having a special card.
Not talking about the flying status levels (SE,E), those still have tangible benefits if you fly AC.

If you are retired with $800M of asset, and income of $180k/yr from dividends and interests, you don't qualify either.

TD credit card announcement timeline?
Don't sweat too much about whether TD is "mistaken" for introducing a $200,000 threshold.
Two separate things:
- whether $200,000 makes any sense for us
- whether $200,000 becomes profitable for the bank
Remember how much money banks are making on the cards with $70,000 income requirements.
The $70,000 income requirement also introduced a new source of revenue for the banks. Banks charge merchants more when one of these $70,000 cards are used.
I'm certain that the $200,000 threshold will somehow mean more revenue for the bank as well.

Called the TD application number. They said the promotional $120 discount only applies on the $120 Infinite card and not the $399 Infinite Privilege card. Their reasoning is that they are giving you 25k "distinction" points. The benefits of the full priced Infinite Privilege card don't really match the full cost IMHO.
