Anyone get the impression that AC was/is going to let these all quietly slide and hope that people don't pick up on the fact that they've been shafted? Am I the only one that thinks that having to make these phone calls is completely ridiculous and a real kick in the head?

Finally got a nice agent who did it for me! I don't understand why it's so hard to do this by the other 4 agents. Now in Flex V class. Looks like service is variable even for an A75K member; wonder if it needs to take an SE status to get something like this done.
 |
I was told they are doing it automatically, it should be all done in the next few weeks and since I do not fly till March I will be fine to wait. I recall they did this last year too and it worked out.
Of course very disappointing we need V not S now, and the fare difference varies tremendously -- sometimes very little sometimes very high. Another problem is the search function for fares does not have a class for lowest upgradable and the box to check for upgradable fares is not available when doing a multi-city search with a destination outside Canada or the U.S. So you have to call. |

No. SE status wouldn't help either. I also had to put in 3 calls to have my tickets reissued.
 Has anyone gotten non-AC issued tickets switched? Good luck! |

AC, please take my money!
I've been a loyal AC TPAC flyer for a decade or more. Several times a year I fly YXU-YYZ-Asian gateway-somewhere else in Asia. AC is rarely the cheapest alternative, but I am willing to spend more to fly AC. I don't generally buy the cheapest available fare class; I am willing to spend more to save eup credits or even to book latitude to guarantee the upgrade. But not any more. This is not another "I'm leaving AC" rant. I am still hoping to fly AC. I still want to spend more of my money on AC. But it seems that the re-alignment of fare classes makes this impossible. I spent an hour on the phone with an agent trying to book YXU-XMN and TPE-YXU and she couldn't get either one to price in flex or even in latitude. She can get me there in tango or biz, just not in an upgradeable class. She has sent this on to ticketing, but both she and the person at ticketing seemed to think it was not doable, because "the fare classes no longer align" There is an obvious workaround, which is to book YXU-Asian gateway on AC and then the next segment separately. But sometimes I need to be in my destination at a certain time, so a split ticket is not ideal. (And since they can't confirm till tomorrow, I will miss out on the 15% promo that ends tonight) Hopefully this is a temporary problem, but its just one more way this change stinks. |

I can see V fare on YXU-XMN and Q fare on YXU-TPE. These should be combinable and should work.

eUp disaster with Flex->Tango fare class change
Tried to eUp within the designated window on a formerly flex fare now Tango that was manually converted back to Flex over the phone. Tried eUp online just now and failed. Spoke to agent at 4:30AM EST (10:30AM Frankfurt time) for FRA-YYZ segment and said I'd have to wait 'til 7AM EST to call back when YYZ desk opens to request upgrade. She said I'm automatically waitlisted anyway. 3 hour upgrade priority window lost. Previously I was able to get on the eUp screen on AC.com for this itinerary and now it gives me an error. Oddly another itinerary in December the eUp screen shows up. This is clearly an AC IT system glitch.
This is really frustrating since I'm currently overseas and it's a pain to have to call in to request an eUp; anyone has the same experience having to call manually for eUp even though already rebooked to a Flex fare and AC.com was previously able to show the eUp screen on the same itinerary but gave an error at the time of eUp window?! Thanks, GT |
I was in the same boat- having called to rebook the fare class- although I was able to upgrade online right at the 6-day window without a hitch. Obviously there are still lots of bugs with this switch and it's luck of the draw as to how it plays out. Good luck to you! Let us know what happens with your upgrade when you get a chance.
