Fare diff bet Flex and Tango
The fare diff between Flex and Tango has gone crazy. I think AC has lowered the Tango fare to be competitive and not changed Flex. I know the benefits of Flex over Tango (upgradeable, full AE points, lower change fee, etc) but this is ridiculous.
YYZ-YVR return last week of Feb. $552 rtn on Tango or $900 rtn in Flex. It used to be approx $100 more for Flex, now its $350. And we all know that Flex is not really Flexible. |

We had AC loyalists in this very forum say that: a) no way AC would Tangoize core routes b) no way AC would Tangoize TATL travel c) no way AC would Tangoize transborder "business" routes d) no way Flex will be more than $100 over Tango.... :) |

Thank you so much. I checked etik from my email. No mentioned of flex class anywhere.
The best that I can find is in Air Canada about the changes - No. 4 where it says, If P/E/N booking classes are closed for sale as of Dec.3, how should agencies process changes for their customers booked in one of those classes on/after that date? The ADCOL will be waived (change fee still applies)and agencies should rebook their customers into the booking class indicated as follows: North America itineraries: S class//International itineraries (excludes SYD): L class//Sydney itineraries: S class Please note: there is no impact for customers booked in P/E/N classes, travelling between December 3, 2013 and January 19, 2014. Therefore their tickets will not be rebooked. This only says that Sydney flight is in a different category. My ticket is LHR-SYD with a stopover in Vancouver. Literally, it is a Sydney ticket. I am still searching to justify my claim that my "S" class is a flex fare, even though I can get 100% AQM. But, definitely can't burn our eupgrades. In any case, why do we have to spend hours to clean after their "improvements"? |
Just want to whine and get it off my chest. I just noticed that YYZ-SFO has become tango-ized, which obviously happened some time ago, since my wife just came back from her first trip of the year and only received half mileage. We have her scheduled for 15 trips this year, which won't even give her 35K status. I had her fly an extra flight last year to get 75K for the free exit row, but now she can't get it because the company booking system gives her tango fares. Awesome!!!
So much for these "improvements" having no impact on us!! Go Air Canada go! On the other hand, she just cancelled 2 trips since if we can't get 35K nor be able to use upgrades, we'll split the family less. Thanks Air Canada for keeping my wife home more! |

All my work flights are booked through AMEX, and sadly, tango has crept in.... I phoned the other day, and paid to switch them to flex. I commute back and forth between YOW-YXE every two weeks for work, as long as it stays reasonable to pay to switch to flex I'll bite the bullet for now.

No problem upgrading my wife on an originally Flex that became Tango and then Flex again, tonight at the 7 days window. Must have been R1. R space is now gone even though hers is the only J seat that's not free on this E75.

Looks like I'll be flying either UA or NZ as their fares are about $400 less expensive.

Thanks for the reply! Did you try to argue that the fare was purchased prior to the fare alignment and the old fare grid should apply?
Cheers! |
