Hate these "realignments"

These realignments are bad because even the agents and ticketing make mistakes.

Bit more than a week after Dec 3, I made a date-change to an outbound leg, and was very specific the whole ticket should remain Flex. The agent + ticketing put the return in T. At the time, when reviewed online, the web site said T (Flex). Now it says T (Tango). ARGH.

7 phone calls so far trying to get this fixed! 30-60 minutes long each. A whole day gone.

Who benefits?

I just got off the phone with an agent to fix an RSW ticket that I booked in Flex and which was still showing Tango. Agent said I had been caught in "that little class change glitch". Sigh, a little glitch to them is a major PITA for all their customers! Wonder how many non-FTers will lose out on upgrades and miles just because they didn't know to call in and get it fixed.

The cynic in me says AC benefits (see above). And in 2 years when they play alphabet scramble anew, they can benefit again!

T Tango, for sure. Had this issue on Dec. 30.

Thanks for the reply! Did you try to argue that the fare was purchased prior to the fare alignment and the old fare grid should apply?

Main question: I booked transborder K 2013Sept22. It's now Tango, but was it Flex on that date? Can I call and get that fixed? Will agents cooperate or even know the answer?

So turns out I should have described my situation differently, according to a helpful agent. My actual ticket, through UA, is YYZ-ORD-NRT-BKK-NRT-SFO-YYZ, with only the final leg on AC. All fare class K.

The agent checked and double-checked some things (not sure what exactly), and said that the ticket is international and Tango class, therefore half status for that leg (since it's AC metal).

It's only ~1130 status miles lost, but still. I value every single mile like little scattered children looking for a home in my wallet!

Flex fares posting at 25% mileage

Just flew yxe-yyz-lga on a flex fare. Upgraded yxe- yyz (cleared at 3 week window during Xmas promotion). Miles posted today at 25%. Anyone else have this issue? Unless I've missed another "enhancement" I'm expecting that flex fares still get 100% mileage?

We need this to answer your question: date of purchase, fare basis, date of upgrade, date of travel.

My guess is that you bought the ticket with a fare basis that was Flex on purchase and at the time of upgrade, but was moved to Tango before travel. Air Canada is notorious at moving tickets to Tango without properly crediting people for what they actually bought.

The existing thread on this issue will give you some ideas on how to fix it.

Date purchased: dec 11
Booking class: g
Upgrade date: December 22 (3 weeks prior to travel)
Travel date: January 12

My return trip tomorrow is also showing flex (and I've already been upgraded). Booking class w. Is this going to be the same issue?

Argonaut1000 Jan 15, 2014 11:22 pm

W will earn 100%

Yeah but OP's G fare should also be 100% and it wasn't.

2. Don't think you can select preferred non - bulkhead seats free unless you are E75k on Flex or SE on any fare.

1. Too bad. I assumed this would be the case but was hoping otherwise.

2. This does seem to be correct, but for clarity, additionally E50, E35, and *G can select the bulkhead seats, but only on flex fares as I've found now. I had thought that the problem was that on Tango you can't even select seats in advance, so when I realized that on international flights you can I hoped this meant preferred was possible for free too. Apparently not.

Thanks for the help.

Do I simply need to call Aeroplan to request the mileage correction for my flights? It seems online is only for missing flight segments.

Not that simple...I had the same issue (Flex ticket for travel Jan 7-9 purchased in November, upgraded flights, posted as 25% miles)...was told by AP agent that for some reason the fare class was not retained as a flex one when they changed in December (even though I u/g the flights!). They told me that since this is a booking class issue it has nothing to do with them, and I need to fill out online complaint form with AC, and see if I can get my AQM (and AP points) that way.

On the bright side, if there is such a thing.
On the few routes I have been following for shoulder season travel.
With so many letters in the Tango category, there is little incentive for advance purchase of flex fares.
I was looking at fares YVR-LGA for this weekend.
There was no increase in flex fares from the end of november to the day before departure.

Just got off the phone with Air Canada trying to change my "S" which used to be flex to the latest flex class quote.

Tickets booked in July. We definitely booked in Flex fares. Got upgraded with "S" class with other segments from LHR-YVR, and YVR-SYD, SYD-YVR with my eupgrades. Now, AC remarked on my file that YVR-LHR on S was never a flex class!!

The excuse is that they said AC did some "minor" changes to the North American flex and Tango fares, but not the international fare structure.

They also said that I got lucky that I can use my S class to upgrade. They had some other person who is even more experienced in the fare department to check that S class is always a Tango class (except in N. America).

I clearly remembered that they wouldn't even give me a Tango option when I was purchasing the ticket in those days. The minimum is flex fares.

Does anyone have anything to prove my innocence?
