thanks for any info.
I've seen it used for crew time out, in flight diversion for medical or fuel reasons, or ATC. IOW it's a catch all reason.

UA 923 LAX - LHR cancelled chaos

Full flight cancelled tonight after two hours wait due to air conditioning problem in cockpit. I was lucky and got moved to BA Club but most flights were full already. Over 200 people queued up at Customer services by gate 71 at Lax getting very angry with the two agents handling. They said would take five hours today get part and fit and did not have a spare 777 so will be a knock on effect as only 50 seats across tomorrow's flight if they find a bird. Not sure which LHR flight will be cancelled tomorrow already had apology email and $300 for a paid business class seat. Well will get to try A380 BA business class in an hour

UA 847 (IAH-SCL) 10h45m late due to late arriving aircraft. Not sure how this happened as it looks like the previous flight arrived in IAH 24 minutes early. Maybe the original plane was pressed into service for the LHR delays?

Any idea why UA863 (SFO-SYD) was late by almost an hour? Frame was early on past few flights, so just wondering why it got out of SFO late (flying it back to LAX tomorrow)...

UA135 ZRH-EWR delayed by 6 hours now due to late arrivals of incoming aircraft. It looks like IAD-ZRH UA52 turned around yesterday and swapped for a new aircraft (#3055 to #3060). Anyone knows what happened?

UA84 Once the doors closed got a text "Your 355pm flight to Tel Aviv is delayed due to aircraft maintenance. UA84 now departs Newark 415pm and arrives 935am" well we haven't pushed back yet 16:20 Now all I am waiting for the updated texts

Update 16:25 from captain they are waiting for cargo door to close usually it's because customs is going through with a fine tooth comb of the bags , so now I am confused is it maintenance or customs

Update 16:31 pushback but never got updated texts

Actually UA 52 shows flying from IAD to EWR (?).
Curious as well what transpired.

Well, I see the performance of SYD flights continues to be up to UA's usual high standards. It's pretty amazing how they've managed to make this route a disaster year after year, even after dumping all the creaky old 747s that used to fly to SYD.

I guess it's nice that UA believes in tradition.

1/6 UA836 PVG-ORD 744 returned to gate and cancelled due to aircraft maintenance
1/7 UA836 PVG-ORD 744 delayed 5h30 for now — .bomb says aircraft maintenance but it seems like they're using the plane inbound from SFO that only gets in at 1845.

So it seems that N127UA that was to operate UA836 on the 6th went mx and still hasn't been fixed, so they used N128UA that arrived from ORD (UA835) on the 7th for the extra sector UA2059 PVG-ORD, and now they're waiting for N181UA from SFO (UA857) to arrive to use it for to the originally scheduled UA836 on the 7th.

Of course this means that if they can't fix N127UA by tomorrow there's no plane for UA858 PVG-SFO. Fingers crossed, I guess?

Also this is the second time in a week that UA836 has cancelled due to mx — and it's what the 7th of January?

UA KWI outbound final flight delays?

OK, have a friend currently in the KWI airport, been trying to fly out last US flight 981to IAD for two nights now.... and they are about to attempt the third time..... he said "we've gotten on the plane each night for two nights, taxi to the runway, and then they say they didn't make the deadline for takeoff and we go back to the gate, get off the plane, go to the holiday inn and repeat the next day. I feel sorry for the young sailors on leave that are using up their precious vacation/family time..."

Anyone with any other info here??
