TWA L1011 Routes - 1980s. Memory fades.
As you may have - from a very young age I have tried to keep mementos from my flights. These days I simply keep track via spreadsheet and flightmemory.com. There are some questions however that linger despite my best efforts, and gaps in my memory persist .
Does anybody remember TWA's network / schedule well enough to know which aircraft (equipment type) operated BOS-LHR-BOS in mid-June and early July, 1983. While I had previously and since flown 747-100s on this route, I have vague memories that these particular flights were operated by Tristar aircraft. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Adamthetraveller

You can look at the OAG's for July 1983 here:
http://www.departedflights.com/index.html
You can then drill down to cities to see the type of planes.

I have a hunch that TW 754 remained an L10 on the 1983 summer schedule without the change of gage but I have no evidence yet to support that. I flew back to BOS on TW 753 in seat 22-6 if that is of any help.
Does anyone have that 1983 OAG guide?

Incidentally, http://www.twahistory.com is also a great resource, and a generally fun site for those of us who miss TWA.

Sorry to hear about not remembering.
BOS-CDG were probably L-1011's. They were later in the 80's. In the summer, 1984, several JFk-LHR flights were L-1011's but not all. By around 1988, BRU-JFK flights were L1011-200's.
BRU was served via AMS, including sometimes with one of 3 747SP's. For a short time in late 1986, there was BRU-LHR-JFK on a L1011. Around 1987, BRU-JFK became non-stop.
I liked the L1011's. Those were my favorite planes until the A340 came out. The 747SP wasn't bad.

Very interesting to hear about the utilization of L1011-200s on the BRU-JFK route. I admit I hadn't realized that TWA operated this type. I thought that only -1s/50s, 100s, and maybe 500s were used. Learn something new everyday. Thanks ^

I flew an L1011 from JFK to MEX in 1977 and I think it was on TWA. I remember how incredibly roomy and comfortable the plane felt in coach. Probably the single most pleasant flight I've had in coach, outside of some Braniff flights where we were plied with steak and fine wine (but that's for another thread).

I miss the good old days also. I remember taking the STL-BOS evening flight, L1011, dinner service. I took the STL-BWI evening flight once, 727, and counted a total of 13 passengers.
Funny thing about TWA - I still remember exactly the man's voice that greeted you when you called the 800 number, "Thank you for calling...T.W.A"

I flew on a TW L-1011 from JFK-LHR and CDG-JFK in the late 80's, and between STL and NYC several times in the early 80's. All in F or J. I recall them being very quiet up front.
I also flew a TW flight from JFK to somewhere in Europe in the late 80's but the actual bird was a Gulf Air L-1011. It wasn't a codeshare. Don't know whether TW had just borrowed it for the day or had just taken over a lease and hadn't yet redone the plane.

Thanks so much for the referral to departedflights.com. I had never seen that before and it brought back and helped me clarify memories. For example, I have a vague recollection of flying PDX-OMA on EA back in the 70's (on my way to ATL) and the stop in OMA had never made sense, but apparently it really happened.
