Oh, really?

ThinkPad T500
Resolution 1680x1050
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Firefox 18.0.1

...and I suddenly had to start scrolling sideways. I've had to reduce size of the window with Ctrl-minus to get things to fit. Makes text smaller. There's this thing called presbyopia, but as it only happens to the very ancient...like, over 40 (!), you might not be aware.

OK, I'll make it easy for the monkeys.

Search for and find this line of code

<div style="width:99%;margin:auto;min-width:1190px;min-height:1190px;">

Remove the min-width and min-height part of that line so it becomes

<div style="width:99%;margin:auto;">

That will take a page that looks like this and scrolls off the page

into this one where the table actually fits on the page without scrolling (the only difference between these two images is the removal of the min-width and min-hight tags, there is no trickery in image manipulation)

Yes, it really is that simple to fix.

Excellent! I figured it was something like that. Bring back our dynamic window sizes, please.

Unfortunately, the issue is not finding the offensive line of code, I have the most basic skills and it was pretty easy, just look for the table with the fixed size in it.

The issue is as they have made clear in this thread, they don't see any reason why it's a problem, because nobody is actually running a screen that small, and we all must be using etch a sketch machines if we are having issues.

Whoever put it in could easily fix it, and I would guess over time the complaints will drop off as it's just too tiresome to have to scroll back and forth for each and every line in a post, so more people will just give up and go away.

You're apparently right...disappointing there hasn't been any further communication from the tech staff, on an update/fix - which as you've shown is very simple.

I don't care for the dismissive attitude by the IB staff upthread wrt resolution. Especially since it doesn't seem to be rocket science to fix. If the site was fine before their page changes (which are inconsequential window dressing anyway), and if for some reason they don't have the ability to fix it properly, why not revert to the old version then? Instead of superficial layout changes, spend the time to improve the search function, for one example?

I'm sure more people are having problems than have posted here - I didn't even know where to post about the problem without some searching. Much as I love FT and am on here all the time, I'm not going to come here as much if I can't readily use it on my primary computer and browser.

Maybe for them, looks is more important than what's inside, after seeing how IB prioritizing "improvement" on FT?

The sad thing is they can't even get the looks part right.

Tech is still working on this issue and there were some internal updates this morning. I don't have a solution to report, but they are monitoring this thread and I hope to have a decision soon.

Thanks for hanging in there!

Got back onto FT just now and things appear to be back to normal.

Thank God! Hope the normalcy will stick!
