Well, having done the flight I can concur that WAM is used in CW and WT/WTP. Boxed meals, deep frozen with a rather nasty salmon paste - so good they put two pots of it in the box!

Changes at UA

On my recent JFK-LAX-SFO-HKG-SGN (on UA) since I did a SDC from JFK-SFO(non-stop to grab a Biz seat) there was no way to order a KSML. However last week they didn't board any and another religious person in biz on the JFK-LAX flight also didn't get anything. Not agood sign

However the great news is my SFO-HKG had 3 meals 1st lunch was Borenstein and was thrilled no KoshAir, well that didn't last long as the snack was good ole KoshAir (a 1/2 of a soggy pita with 1 slice of turkey breast, only ate the cookie. Breakfast was served before landing at HKG and it was a Regal meal eggs with vegies and potatoes. Best was HKG-SGN a Hermolis meal

Problem is they don't serve a KSML SGN-HKG but since the flight is at 6am no problem. Hopefully it will be Hermolis from HKG but I doubt it since that's a UA flight and the flight HKG-SGN is a CO flight. My bet its gonna be the dreaded KoshAir like yrs past

All in all very happy to see KA being done away with, so I hope.

Update the way back; (on UA)

SGN-HKG no KSML offered at all but at 6am who needed it right to sleep

HKG-SFO luch was KoshAir the entree was decent but nothing else on the tray was eatable imo. Snack once again KAs 1/2 a pita with 1 slice of turkey breast once again ate only the cookie. Breakfast was Regal

SFO-JFK ended up unloading myself and taking a later flight so no meal

Beats me why HKG-SGN is Hermolis and HKG-US is KoshAir, unless its due to HKG-SGN being a CO flight (plane) while the flights back to the US from HKG are UA flights (planes)

we had a 2 hour delay getting out of IAD. (better then the LHR flight which was CXed or PEK 6+ hrs) anyway once airbourne was severed a Regal hot breakfast and a hot Regal fleshig meal 1 hr out of HNL.

When I did this a couple of yrs ago on PMUA got the KoshAir garbage, unfortunately my return via IAH is on a PMUA so Im sure it will be KA

Good to know, but out of which airports? As I posted above my HKG-SFO 1st meal (Lunch) was KoshAir, even thou the HKG-SGN flight PMCO was Hermolis

Ive been on 4 ps flights but only 1 was my original booked flight and they didnt load a meal for me , big deal 6250 miles, it used to earn me a $200-250 ecert. The other 3 were misconnects or SDCed so no meals were able to be ordered. Have another ps on 2/4 on my way to HKG

Out of mainland USA airports, I get Regal on PMCO and either Regal or Weis on PMUA (haven't flown ex-Hawaii or Alaska, so don't know what I would get there).

ex-Europe, it's generally local caterer

Agree ex-TLV or Europe its the local caterer if there is 1. PMCO was usually Regal, while pre 1/1/15 all I got on my PMUA flights was KoshAir, which seems to have finally changed

the only domestic flights with meals are the ps flights (JFK-LAX or SFO) Hawaii and I think Alaska. The ps flights are PMUA and in '14 all I got was KoshAir no matter which of the 3 citys I was flying out of. Which leaves Intl destinations which vary from PMCO to PMUA, PMCOs I never got KA, but with PMUA thats all I got no matter where I flew out of. So its nice to hear that you havent gotten KA on a PMUA flight

I have a flight coming up VIE-TLV, with NIKI , a friend told me he was served, as a kosher snack, a packet of bamba and chocolate. However my flight was cancelled and Niki, being a part of Air Berlin, rebooked me on a flight VIE-TXL then TXL-TLV. I tried to order a kosher meal on the phone for this new flight (a longer flight than the original) but the agent said he could not order one, because they only give meals for long flights for example TLV to Abu Dhabi ().
Is this true? Or just a mistaken agent?

According to the airberlin website, kosher food is available in economy class on flights to/from Tel Aviv. According to this source, it may be nothing more than a bagel, unless you pre-order and pay for a meal.

It seems that on short and medium-haul flights, up to 3.5 hours, they only serve snacks.

Thanks for the info.

Just i forgot to add to my post that i have Air Berlin gold, (as can be seen in my profile) so i can choose a front seat for free, which may allow me a better meal.

Just flew Aegean TLV-ATH-LHR in business, left TLV 6am, for breakfast got stogel hot breakfast - crackers, tuna salad, compote, bissli, and hot was 2 tiny potatos, with salad, and 2 soy nuggets.
On second leg, for lunch, also stogel - crackers, tuna salad, compote, chocolate paste, halva, hot lunch was chicken with rice and salad.

Received same as above ( Stogel Nuggets) for breakfast on LH BIZ from IST- FRA.
Also received a much better breakfast on TK TLV-IST with local Hashgacha. Chilean Sea Bass, Potato Salad and a creamy Pear-Cinnamon Pudding.

Recently we flew on Aeroflot from TLV to JFK via SVO and have just returned back. We ordered kosher meals for our flights, and we did receive them for all the legs of our flights. We did note two oddities of the kosher meals:

1. The TLV-SVO, SVO-JFK, and SVO-TLV flights all used kosher meals sourced from Moscow. On all 3 of these flights, while the hot portion of the meal was hot - the non-heated portion of the meal was frozen solid. On 3 different flights. It seems like the Aeroflot staff are not taking these meals out of deep-freeze early enough for them to defrost. Even the SVO-JFK flight which had two meals, the second meal was still mostly frozen.
2. The same exact meal served for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for meals sourced from Moscow - For example the TLV-SVO flight which left at 0100 they served a "Dinner" meal which was reasonable. Then the SVO-JFK flight which left around 0930 served a "Dinner" meal shortly after takeoff, and then 6 hours later served another "Dinner" meal. However our JFK-SVO flight which had NY sourced meals, had a different meal for Dinner and for breakfast.

We didnt mind so much getting the same meal each time, although it is a little odd to eat a meat dinner at breakfast time, but the real problem was that the large portion of the meals (the non-heated part) were completely frozen and not edible. Since this happened on 3 different flights with different crews it seems to be some sort of systemic problem with the meals from Moscow. Perhaps the same issue applies to other special meals on Aeroflot. The Kosher meals sourced from NY on the JFK-SVO flight were done correctly and not frozen.

Our flights back to TLV were two days after Pesach ended, and as I suspected we did get Passover meals for both the JFK-SVO and SVO-TLV flights. The Russian Matzah tasted like cardboard - it was not the white machine matza we are used to.
