I was upgraded to an Executive room on the 26th floor for 3 nights.

The room is standard with all amenities provided.

The CL is located on the 27th floor with nice views. I had the choice of having breakfast either in the CL or downstairs at the main restaurant which was nice as the CL can get busy at times.

Overall great location in Singapore and great hotel.

Just did 4 more nights earlier this month. Not only is there construction across Orchard Road (Ion Orchard) but there is also construction going on directly next door on Scotts Road. I specifically requested a room not facing the Ion Orchard project due to noise at ALL hours during my previous stay. Well, I got my request only to face the Scotts Road project. Fortunately, they don't make any noise during the night over there.

The lounge staff was excellent again. They were serving us cold Tigers as fast as we could drink them and always let you know 5 minutes before last call. It was crowded at times, but I never failed to find an empty table.

I find it interesting that people comment on the noise from the construction projects. I spent 2 weeks there in September (25th floor) and just returned from another 2 week stay (23rd floor), and both times I was facing the ION project but did not hear any noise at night. It could be that I was high enough up not to hear...or maybe, just maybe, it's because I was so tired that I would've slept through construction noise even if it was in my room.

I loved the fantastic location, right on Orchard Road, the main street for commerce and shopping in Singapore. The only drawback, if I can think of one is that the rooms are not huge, but they are decent size, and both times that I have stayed there, I was on a high floor with a view of the entire city it seemed. I have stayed in MANY Marriotts and Renaissances, around the US and the world over, and I can say, without much hesitation, that the Concierge Lounge in this hotel is UNPARALLELED! I have to laugh, because as a Plat, I had access to the lounge of course, but in addition, this hotel also gave me breakfast coupons. At the time, I thought that they gave them to all Plats, but since then, I have found out that they either have stopped this practice, or we got them as a fluke! I was in Singapore for pleasure, escorting my Mother on a dream tour of Asia (She always wanted to go with my Father, but he died prematurely, and she is partially disabled, so it was up to me.) Mom is an earlier riser than I am, so she would get up and go to the lounge for her first (yes, you read that right, her first) breakfast, and then when I woke up, she would go with me for a second breakfast to the main restaurant in the lobby, where they put out a huge and wonderful buffet. It cracked her up that she was eating two breakfasts every morning, but they were both gourmet as far as she was concerned! The CL is gorgeous, about half the floor, and a view not to be believed, and the evening concierge attendants are incredibly nice, but the spread that they put out there is just unreal! The two nights that we were there on that first visit, we never made it out to dinner, the food selection was huge, several cheeses, five or six hor d'oerves (hot and cold), and three or four main courses, and then at least six selections for dessert! Why this hotel is not a JW, I have no idea! As to the comments that I have read in various threads about the CL being crowded and difficult to find a place to sit, I never found it that way, on either of my two stays at this wonderful hotel.

Anyone been here recently? Is there still all-hours construction? I've got a trip planned for August, so I'll have to check this thread for a while. Anyone ever taken any tours through the hotel? Are there other/better options?

I'm afraid the construction work on both neighboring properties will continue for at least a year.

I was there in November - 18th floor. I didn't hear any of the construction noise.

Pool Terrace Room - worth it?

Has anyone stayed in one of the newer Pool Terrace Rooms? They look nice from the web photos and am considering doing a 4-night stay there end of June.

And would said rooms have any problem with the construction noise?

Thanks in advance for any input!

After ~5 weeks in this hotel last year, I think I've officially given up on staying there ever again because of the absurdly high rates that my company won't cover. C'mon, 460SGD/night...that's just ridiculous when I can pay 20% less at any number of equivalently nice hotels in Singapore. I will miss all of the points, of course.

Yes, it's almost always over priced here, even when using premium pound certs. It's almost always more than the Conrad and Grand Hyatt and usually 2x the price of the LeMeridien and Hilton.

Exclamation Can we merge the 2 Singapore threads?

I've noticed that others are posting to a different Marriott Singapore thread - is it possible to please have the two merged, moderator?

Singapore

Anyone have latest info on the Singapore Marriott? Construction nearby was reported in earlier threads.

What about Platinum experience? Upgrade? etc.?

Thanks,

There is construction on both sides of the hotel. As a Plat, I was upgraded to a Concierge level room on the top (30th) floor with a really lovely view of Orchard Road. The ION construction across Orchard road made noise all night but it was not loud enough to keep me awake. If I were a light sleeper it might have been a problem. Orchard in general is noisy in the evenings (until midnight or 1am anyway on the weekends). And rooms on lower floors probably hear more noise than on the upper floors.

I think the rooms are all the same size because of the octagonal building shape. I've never seen a suite in the times I've stayed there. The Concierge rooms may have nicer furnishings (TV, etc). In my opinion the room size and shape is best suited for a single traveler as it is really one big (wedge-shaped) space. If you are a couple, best if you don't like to do different things at the same time in the room.

Plats were allowed to take free breakfast in the main buffet which is quite extensive. Evening snacks in the lounge are substantial enough for a light dinner, although too much emphasis on fried food for my taste.

My last few trips to SIN I tried to book the Marriott, and found rates double that of the InterCon or Hilton. Both the InterCon and Hilton have larger, less noisy rooms, and both gave me CL access for the lower price.

My boss was just there in July. He was one of the first to get in on a new program that picked him up at the gate at SIN on a golf cart, sped him through customs, handed him a coffee while he was waiting for his luggage (which only took a few mins), and dropped him at the hotel.

I don't know what it costs but it sounds like a great deal.

Oh yeah, he said the hotel was very nice too.
