What is your Priority Club status?

Spire

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Fairly

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked the cheapest room, and upgraded to a 2 queen suite (unfortunately didn't get one with view)

How are the rooms?
Very dated, seriously needs update.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Not bad

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
My rate was $107 so it's really cheap considering the location, for the same price with the proximity to DC and free parking, I'll stay there again. Got 500 points as welcome points - and the points posted very promptly.

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

o Booked - Standard Room on corporate rate

How are the rooms?

+ A bit dated but bathrooms look to be modernised recently

Good:
+ Status recognised at check in - room upgrade, bonus points, welcome letter
+ Small enough to be welcoming, big enough to be called a hotel
+ Bed very pleasant as was bathroom
+ Bar snacks not over priced

Bad:
+ Limited on street parking with max 4 hour stay - £10 a night car park around corner (it rains a lot in Edinburgh!)
+ Cupboards and wardrobes have seen better days
+ No stock in mini bar

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Yes, would return. Paid £97 on corp rate and was worth that.

What is your Priority Club status?

Spire-RA

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Extremely happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Superior River View King, one category below Executive King, and upgraded to a 2 room suite, river view. Seems to be the top category.

How are the rooms?

Great, wood floor in the large entry-living room, great furniture with a full sized couch, love seat plus arm chair in the living room and small round table with two more chair, plus a desk and two more chairs. A large bathroom with separate jacuzzi tub and shower stalls, semi-private toilet and bidet room and two sinks and full length mirror. The bedroom also has two comfy chairs and a table. As the (T)Chump says "it's uuuge."

How is the exec. lounge?
Very nice with a good selection of evening dishes that changed each night (here for 4 nights.) The drinks are not the top premium brands, but fine.

What was good and what was bad?

Besides the room, the price was great, like US$60 per night, though they don't give away their F&B nor lounge access, so I paid an extra THB800 (total incl taxes and fees) per night for the breakfast downstairs (great selection and made to order eggs, pancakes, french toast, noodle dishes,) and Exec Lounge access. Only negative is the property is away from the center and there is little to do around this part of town. No problem really as we were using a driver (very reasonable cost, knowledgeable and with a nice Honda) each day for siteseeing, tours, etc.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Great value and we will be back.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Not Really. This property is still soft open stage.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Superior Suite, received same room with Club Benefits. According to front office staff, Superior Suite is the highest category of this hotel. He suggested me to book the Club Room for next stay.

How are the rooms?
58sqm, Room itself is OK. But view is not attractive. This hotel location is still developing area. Not typical Macau's skyline.

How is the Club Lounge?
Due to soft open stage, Club Lounge is still under construction. Club Benefits is applied at All Day Dining Azure on 3rd Floor. Currently here is only one restaurant in this property. I experienced breakfast only. Quite decent breakfast. I didn't go in Cocktail Time.

How was the mini-bar?
So-so.

What was your welcome gift?
Full bottle of red wine and macarons.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
+ Very kind and polite staff
+ Hotel have both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
+ Shuttle Bus service between hotel and ferry terminal.

Bad
- Location
- Soft opening

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Rate is OK. But need to wait 1-2years until hotel completely opened.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked the cheapest twin room (standard).
Upgraded to the second cheapest tier twin room (comfort).

How are the rooms?
Okay. Beds comfy, typical of CP beds. Room size was on par with standard American size, larger than your average Jpn twin bed room.

How is the exec. lounge?
n/a

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Good breakfast buffet, free parking, spacious drop-off / pick-up area in front of lobby if coming by car, good view of the station/train with CTS far off in the distance, professional staff, reliable ANA-CP standard of amenities and upkeeping.
Bad: Not much perks for Platinum (but this is to be expected).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I will return.

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a standard king with points. Upgraded to the concierge level, but not clear how the room itself was any nicer than a typical king.

Wording of welcome letter indicated that all plat/spire members get access to the "concierge floor" executive lounge, though it never seemed that crowded considering the size of the property.

How are the rooms?

A bit dated. I thought the yellow wallpaper was ugly. But I did see some information in the lobby about planned renovations.

How is the exec. lounge?

Intermediate breakfast Monday-Friday. Great evening reception, including decent complimentary California wine and hot items, Monday-Thursday. No breakfast or evening reception on weekends - just sodas in the fridge and pretzels from 9am Friday through 6am Monday. Nice view and not at all crowded, considering the size of the hotel and the number of platinum members they must get.

No breakfast benefit offered on weekends.

What was good and what was bad?

Service was generally good. Rooms are a bit dated, and the location is a bit of a hike (20-30 minute walk) from the state capitol grounds. Lots of construction in the area due to the new Sacramento Kings arena next door, though there should be a nice upscale pedestrian mall there when everything is done this winter. Parking is $12/day. Adjacent to I-5: easy on/off but a bit of road noise.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Paid 15k points/night in place of a $178+tax rate, so redemption was better than $.01/point. Rewards Club benefits extended on an award stay. Yes, I'll return.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a standard double, got an Executive Double.

How are the rooms?

Plush fittings, refurbished in 2015, but small

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

What was good and what was bad?

My status was recognised, welcome points or drink offered at check in, points taken and appeared within ten minutes on my account.

Smart hotel having had a lot of money spent on it over the last two years. My room was very small even though it was an Exec. Nice ambiance for a Glasgow hotel though.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Paid £90 standard refundable rate. Was good value for money I felt.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? We booked a two double bed traditional and received this. No upgrade was offered at check in. I asked about this and was told I was in the room I had booked.

How are the rooms? Small and worn out. Wallpaper was torn and scuffed. View was of the Sheraton next door.

How is the exec. lounge? NA

What was good and what was bad?

Good - I was pleased I had only booked a single night here.
Bad - lack of recognition for Spire membership. No welcome points or offer of drink. Room was small and worn. Bathroom didn't have a bath. Shower was grubby. Pool was filthy. Three out of ten bulbs had blown and not been replaced. Told we had to pay an extra 'resort fee' to access the Internet.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Never, we wasted $250 on a tiny room.

Gold Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Basic room. Got basic room.

How are the rooms?
If I had a crash pad in a London new build, I would want it to look like this. Absolutely everything required for a stay of any length. Room and equipment all brand new.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good: although not central, a very convenient location. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Rooms great, as above. Good and varied breakfast.

Bad: The only thing I can think of is that although facilities are shared with the HI, the internet is not. No status recognition, but I had a 9 hour transit stay so really didn't expect anything or want anything.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Old and tired. Looks like someone put a kitchen setworkservice on top of the bedside tables. And made a breakfast bar in the room.

How is the exec. lounge?

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Location and Price for the night.

Bad:
Under refurb. Not stated on website.
A bold banner in reception saying finished July 2016. it was 5th August
Lighting poor.
Temporary enterance. down steps and through fire exit.
Only one lift working, whilst they are installing new ones.
no bar or restaurant as such.
A temproray pop up bar and a few canteen tables in a room without any windows. Cramped and horrible.

Not even at the low rate offered for this property. Should have realised when got such a low rate something was a miss.
