This thread is about the experience in Hotels of the IHG Chain according to your Rewards Club Status. To the Rewards Club Program belong all hotels with the exception of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, which have its own loyalty program. A template for the post is provided in this post. What is your Priority Club status? Platinum Ambassador Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes. Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Deluxe king. Upgraded to Executive King. How are the rooms? Meh. Doesn't look that much bigger than a deluxe room. How is the exec. lounge? Closed for renovation What was good and what was bad? Hotel under extensive renovation. Expect weekday/Saturday construction between 9am - 5pm. Nice pool. Received welcome points and drinks voucher. Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Yes for free transfer to TPA. Better options in the St Pete's/Tampa area. |

What is your Priority Club status? Spire Ambassador Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, but check-in was handled horribly. Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Executive. Received a 1-category upgrade to Executive Suite after duty manager apologized to me for bad check-in. How are the rooms? Visibly Dated, Air-conditioner was noisy. But the suite was spacious, with decent TVs and new bathtub amongst other things. How is the exec. lounge? Decent as always, best i had out of 5 previous stays on this property, because they served peking duck. What was good and what was bad? I was denied upgrade to suite as Spire even though there was clearly availability. Front desk lied to me quoting "System Glitch" when I pointed out that suites were clearly available. Front desk further screwed up by calling and talking to duty manager on the phone (in mandarin, thinking I couldn't understand), that she is purposefully not upgrading me due to many weddings happening this weekend. Upon realizing her cock-up, I was refered to the duty manager, was arranged a suite, apologized to by the duty manager with some "I'm Sorry" amenities, and told that the staff would be briefed regarding this. First time experiencing such unacceptable behavior at an IHG hotel. However the duty manager handled it gracefully, and I decided to forget about it and not escalate further. Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Yes, I stay here often and am willing to sweep this under the table. |

This was my first visit of the year to the Holiday Inn Reading - West.
What is your Priority Club status? Spire Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes! Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked executive room, upgraded (a few days prior) to a suite. How are the rooms? The executive rooms are really just regular rooms with extra toiletries. They do though have a minibar which is unstocked these days - you have to phone reception if you want the bar to be stocked. The executive rooms are on the top floor and are in a quiet location. There are two suites, one on each floor. The sitting room / bathroom take as much space as a normal room, then there's a bedroom adjacent. The bedroom is somewhat odd in that it's surrounded by corridors, so there are no windows! It does mean that it's quiet (no neighbours to worry about) and wonderfully dark at night. The suites also have a minibar and two TVs. How is the exec. lounge? N/A What was good and what was bad? Good: Greeted by name as I walked through the doors! I was one of only a couple of guests in the hotel that night, so service was top-notch. Two bottles of mineral water (one still, one sparkling) and a KitKat were provided as freebies. Upgraded to a suite, which is quite unusual here - they only have two of them so they're not often available. Bad: Nothing really. Value for $ or Priority Club Points? We were greeted by a hand-cuffed 'guest' on our arrival being escorted out by the local PD. Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Standard Double Room on top floor - very quiet - No upgrade How are the rooms? Standard Holiday Inn Express - very clean though How is the exec. lounge? N/A What was good and what was bad? Received welcome points. Nothing bad. Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Yes - I would recommend $ for winter breaks and Priority Club Point redemptions for summer stays. The price doubles from January to August. We have stayed there 4+ times |
