For those who have experienced both in Shanghai...

Would you rather pay for a room at the GH and use a suite upgrade or use award nights at the PH in an upgraded room for Diamonds?

Thanks for any advice!

I have not been to the PH, but this will at least give you am idea of what you would get at the GH with a suite upgrade.

Thanks for the link, @FriendlySkies. Great write-up, though I think that dizzying center atrium might be a deal killer for my wife.

I've only stayed at PH, and it was not bad at all !

I've stayed at both and I'd pick the PH instantly. The diamond breakfast at the PH is better than the club breakfast at the GH, so it is really only the evening snacks that you get if you stay at the GH on club level.

I am not a student, but I can't afford: SPG PLAT, HH GOLD, and HGP DIAMOND like you can!

1 Million HGP base points / lifetime diamond gets you close to what a courtesy card gets you.

(If you include the Andaz into the equation) Trying to decide myself... some considerations: Which one is best for a suite upgrade? For a 5 day stay in January? For walking around?
