$350 or so if you also value the SkyPesos earned on the flight.

2012 Purchase MQMs is back

Just heard from Kevin Pinto this morning - the purchase MQM offer is back for 2012. Looks like the cap is 10,000 MQM for $995.

Not exactly an MR, but can help if you don't have time for BIS miles. ^

Do you know when Kevin Pinto is leaving DL? When is his last day?

mistake in purchasing miles?

I purchased mqms to gain silver status for next year - my skymiles account shows the effective date for status from Nov 2012 to Feb 2013 - have I purchased only 3 months of status? I thought it would begin in 2013.

Status applies as soon as you qualify and it posts to your account.

Correct, but status earned in 2012 should apply to the entire 2013 membership year, plus the 2 month sunset, so FO acquired today would last until 2/28/2014.

shiptime, under where it shows you current year effective dates with the 2/28/13 ending date, look down below where your current MQMs/MQSs are and you should see something that indicates "Future Year" status with dates of 3/1/13-2/28/14.

If that's not there, call DL and confirm. IIRC the end-of-year purchased MQMs should work essentially the same way as BIS MQMs with regards to status timing.

I think its unfair that you can purchase miles but not segments.
Why is one exclusive and the other not?

Thank you Gooselee - under "Future Year" is where it states Silver Medallion, effective dates Nov 27 2012 - Feb 28 2013 - I will call them as you suggested. By the way I was not Silver Medallion for 2012 if that makes a difference.

This is part of DL's systemic discrimination of segment flyers. Despite the fact that at each level, you would probably spend a lot more money earning segments than MQM's, DL doesn't want to over-compensate people that fly a lot of connecting flights.

If you're in need of MQS, it shouldn't be that hard to put together an MQS MR before Dec 31

Worth it?

Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum and would like to find out what everyone thinks. I am 2,050 miles short of DL PM and wondering if it might be worth purchasing the 2,500 miles for $395. The price seems steep for the number of miles, and I am going to be flying a lot next year, so I am not too worried about needing the rollover (i.e. I should qualify for GM no problem).

I have the DL Platinum card, but won't hit 25k in spending for the mileage bonus.

It seems like this or a MR, but I don't really have time to do that before the end of the year. Unless there was a really inexpensive one out of BOS I wouldn't be able to.

I have a 5,000+ mile flight in the first 2 weeks of January, is there a way I can get Delta to apply that to 2012 accrual, I have heard of that happening in some cases, but don't know if it is a reliable option.

Thoughts?

Is the dn.delta.com/... link for buying MQMs legitimate?

A couple of things make me suspicious

1. A key word search of the delta website does not show the offer
2. When I am logged into the delta website, and then open the dn.delta... MQM link, my Skymiles # and name do not appear to be filled in
3. DL loves to send me emails with offers - but have not received the MQM purchase email from DL

Probably being paranoid, but wanted to ask

TIA
