My guess is AA normally orders a set amount of meals per flight (50/50 or whatever) and the "orders" placed online are merely a reservation for that meal. A lot of times the FA just asks what I want even if I've reserved something.

Will be interesting how the AS system looks.

I tried searching for "combining miles" and it came up with nothing.

Has there been any speculation/announcement as to if you hold Virgin miles will they get converted to Alaska (like when AA bought USAirways?)

Just wondering if so, if it makes sense to quick apply for the Virgin America credit card and rack up some miles?

The catering mix can be adjusted based on reservations.

Alaska ending double daily SFO-PSP service, VX going 1x to 2x. The first schedule update with A320s increasing west coast service, 737s moving to longer distance flying?

It makes sense, the A320s become the 734 analogs in the AS system.

I doubt there will be much in the way of crossfleeting before SOC, and even then I would expect they'll change the config to 12F/Y+/Y pretty fast. VX flies very low density.

They do? They seem in line with at least AA, UA, and some of DL:

VX A320: 146-149 seats
AA A320: 150 seats
UA A320: 150 seats
DL A320: 150-160 seats

I'd be surprised if AS put in more than 150 seats in the A320. Any more than 150 seats, and they need a fourth FA.

I would imagine that they reduce some of the space that F takes up... and use it for Premium Class.

But they're adding a row. 2 x 55" VX rows = 110" vs. 3 x 41" AS rows = 123", AS's F cabin may end up having a bigger footprint than VX's F cabin. And AS likes to do closets. VX does not, so add some space there.

The only carrier that has more than 150 seats in an A320 is DL, with small pitch in F, which is not up to AS's new spec., and a very small Comfort+ section.

jetblue has 162 in their new configuration. They previously had 150, which was a pretty spacious layout with no business/first class.

And two checked bags free for AS MVPs on VX is now a published benefit.

AS Visa companion fare can now be used on VX, and non-elite credit card holders now get a free checked bag on VX. ^

(I think these benefits are all new, at least as published benefits, but I may be wrong.)
