To try to make sense of what's all happening between AS and DL, the idea arose during the recent Alaska do to create a compendium in the wiki of the various stages of the current spat. Please add your knowledge where you can!

exactly! Its gotten quite juvenile quite honestly. The only thing I could think of is that maybe the partnership contract renewal/non renewal date isnt quite close to being up and there is nothing as of yet that falls under early severability clause conditions

I agree this whole thing has spooked many of us FF, caused some, including me to "look" around at my options and only increased my distain for DL and I am a old DL FF from when I lived on the east coast. And really I don't know about any of the others but when flying on DL I never got the treatment that AS staff accorded their partners.

What I am wanting to hear from AS is exactly what are they going to do in the way of a replacement partner. we all assume it's American but one never knows these days. Certainly AS needs a major member of an alliance ? I would think so.

just saying

That or I suppose there still is the remote possibility and option of joining an alliance

The divorce may be inevitable but the code-sharing agreement will go on regardless (if you believe what you read, which I don't).

As UAPremierExec pointed out, the last Delta redemption changes are just aligning the Alaska miles costs with what the same tickets cost DL SkyMiles members at the saver rate. So, there really is nothing to see here. Though, I would place a higher value on my Alaska miles, so we can consider that it is more expensive to redeem on Delta using AS miles.

I don't consider this part of any divorce issues, this actually shows that they're updating the award chart, expecting redemptions ton continue after DL increases rates for its own members.

you know I don't think AS will go that far however as I said it does make sense for them to "join up or aline" with another major member of a world wide alliance. American seems to be the most likely. United and their alliances seem far fetched.

Alaska's refusal to join SkyTeam is a reason that we have downgraded MVP Gold bennies on Delta....

I do not think so. It seems like DL gave the KE relationship a non-lubricated anal probe at some point in the last year.

Alaska's refusal to fly DL codeshare pax for a pittance on connecting international traffic is probably what started this, but then, I have no personal knowledge of anything.

I think that someone someplace a "request or suggestion" was made to which AS replied "no" and here we are. Again one can only hope that they stop the vail attempt of "partnership" get the damn divorce and AS can hopefully work something out with another pretty face and we can all get on with our lives

As alluded to earlier, it appears that some of the partnership is a specific contract term (i.e., dates, rates of reimbursements for redemption, etc.) and others are more of a I'll show you mine if you show me yours" sort of reciprocity, and those have been the first things to drop.

Other than waiting for more shoes to drop, we can all get on with our lives if we decide not to deal with DL anymore. We don't have to fly them, and we don't have to visit their lounges. In fact, I need a paid connecting flight to get to another reservation, and as I'll have checked luggage, DL made it easy by not giving me free bags, as I no longer considered it an option.

Yes. Just go look at the SkyTeam website and see if they list their rules and governance requirements for members.

SkyTeam is wound MUCH tighter than OneWorld and Star Alliance. One of the more recent directives coming out of SkyTeam is that member airlines can NOT give the same recognition to non-SkyTeam airlines elite members.

I'm ONLY talking about the recent ELITE devaluation.

But you have no proof that Alaska was ever even asked to join the "Skyteam Alliance". The rules may state that they can not give same recognition to non Skyteam members, but that doesn't mean that Alaska was asked to be a part of the alliance. Not saying that they would take the opportunity if asked, they may well not, but you don't have proof.
