AC 1136 YVR-YYZ October 2016
Menu Code GG WEST PLH HM-NJCIC-NJCS 10/16
FANTASTIC new Caprese salad. Seriously yum! ^
Excellent salmon dish. I really like this mango and tomato salsa. It has a nice subtle flavour and not drowning in salt like earlier PLH salmon main courses.
Cabin service was excellent but very busy as it was a very short flight at 3:40 or so, thus I did not have a chance to take photos of the other meal options.

Any idea why I've never seen it before? SFO-YUL two weeks ago definitely did not have that bread. Though maybe that flight was catered out of wherever the inbound came from?

Any aircraft that remain overnight and depart as breakfast flights are catered by locally contracted US companies. You'll see subtle differences in the yoghurt, butter, bread and in J/C and fresh sandwiches boarded in Y/C for the BOB. This largely has to do with the fact that double-catered flights have strict time deadlines by which the return leg meal is to be served.

Had a continental breakfast on today's EWR-YYZ which consisted of a large fruit plate (cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, blueberries, oranges, grapefruits, pineapples) which was quite decent, a blueberry Greek yoghurt, and what was supposedly a croissant (but if I was a croissant, I'd be thoroughly insulted to be compared to that dry and crumbly monstrosity lol!)

It does layover for about 6 hours, however.

The truck has probably come and gone before you've arrived at the airport. 190 is contracted to be catered by a local hotel or restaurant can't recall which. Similar to YQT whereby years ago the Valhalla Inn catered the overnight aircraft with breakfast. As a stand alone flight have noticed that the quality has always been very decent on this flight.

On 156 last night and they served a modified (everything on the tray at same time) dinner rather than breakfast. Orders taken by "rank" prior to take-off. Very good crew, alert to refilling water glasses during the flight. (Had expected breakfast so used the YVR PP lounge to have a hot meal at 7p before heading to MLL to await the flight. Did eat on the flight too. Arrived around 5a, so used PP at YYZ for hot breakfast before catching UPX into the city.)

Also, I did a quick search, the red eye flights from YYC, YEG, SFO all shows breakfast.

Yes on the 156, and yes to the regular meal, three entree choices. Albeit salad and dessert on the tray. No appetizer. Hot entree served with salad and dessert ensemble. No cheese after.

Sounds like like you received the regular (non-premium) NA long-haul catering.

Interesting change. I can confirm as late as September breakfast (omelette) was provided on this route. Any guess on why AC started to provide dinner on this flight?

I think it's to do with the change in departure time which is currently at 22:05. I think it turns to breakfast for 22:30 and later departures.
