Do you mean have they started 787 operations? If so they have. I know the 787 goes to London.

They started ops in February YYC-YYZ. I'm asking about executing options for 789 orders.

They did Winter 15/16 when the 767 first enter service and it was wonderful, I really hoped the MAX would see it return.

Did WestJet execute options, or is this a typo? WestJet has 3 787-9s and has ordered nine more.
As of 30 April, Boeing's order list doesn't show more than the 10 firm orders, nor does the WestJet Q1 2019 report which has the fleet orders up to 31 March.

I wonder if it has to do with gate space (or the lack thereof), and perhaps more expensive, even if there was the gate space, to arrive/depart during peak departure banks.

When it was first eliminated I was told it was because the flights were timed relative to their slots at LGW and that the plane will fly LGW-YYC-HNL.

What we have been doing the last couple of years is flying to Hawaii on WestJet but flying back on United or Delta which usually means a 07:00 or 08:00 departure. The layover at LAX is long but we usually leave the airport for a meal or something.

Looks like YYC-OGG 787 service goes 5x weekly from March 12, 2020. Operating everyday except Mon/Tue.

Odd that this service ramps up only at the tail end of the winter season. Are non 787 operating days for the OGG flights going to be Max aircraft?

I see there’s nothing for the 767’s; I wonder what they’re gonna do with those.

Calgary - Kahului (From 31OCT19)
WS1858 YYC 11:00 - 13:27 OGG 789 46
WS1857 OGG 22:30 - 07:27+1 YYC 789 46
Schedule is odd with plane sitting 9 hours at OGG. Schedule increases to 5x weekly from 12MAR20. (Day: X12)

Toronto-London (From 23OCT19)
WS003 YYZ 20:40 - 09:00+1 LGW 789 Daily
WS004 LGW 10:45 - 15:22 YYZ 789 Daily

Calgary-London (From 27OCT19)
WS001 YYC 19:40 - 11:20+1 LGW 789 1357
WS002 LGW 11:50 - 14:31 YYC 789 1246

Other noteworthy schedule changes include: YYC-PDX extended to year-round, daily. YYC-HNL becomes 3x Weekly 7M8, YEG-OGG becomes 3x Weekly 7M8.
This can't be right, there's no way they can turn around a 787-9 in 30 minutes at LGW. (arr 1120 dep 1150 ?)

Expect to see more changes....

Doesn't it sit overnight in LGW? Arrives at 1120 on day 1, departs at 1150 on day 2. Arrives day 3, departs day 4. Arrives 5, departs 6. Arrives 7, departs 1.

They also reduced the number of weekly direct flights YYC-OGG.
New schedule shows direct Thu & Sat only. Prev. schedule had direct
flights 5X weekly starting in December. I have to change my condo dates
as there is no direct flight on Fridays anymore.

Perhaps Flt 1 from YYC turns around in LGW to become Flt 4 to YYZ, so the flight times might be staggered allowing for sufficient turn time?

Sorry, the YYC-LGW schedule varies per operational day, and I just posted 1 outbound and 1 inbound.

Outbound:
Day 1/3: Departs 19:45 Arrives: 11:20+1
Day 5/7: Departs 18:20 Arrives: 10:20+1
Inbound:
Day 1/5: Departs 11:50 Arrives: 14:31
Day 2/4: Departs 13:20 Arrives: 15:25

As for OGG. Its starts 2x Weekly 789. The 7M8 operates opposite days starting mid-December. The 789 increases to 5x Weekly from March 12.
