I came on here with a complaint - two, actually.

Your ridiculous defense of these ridiculous policies proves my point.

As to any attitude, suffice it to say that as a guy on vacation, flying around Australia purely for the fun of it....doesn't give a lot of credibility to your theory that I somehow caused the bag Nazi to behave the way she did

Your attempt to antagonize me into somehow admitting I caused a reaction is pure and simple BS. Sorry to burst your (self aggrandizing) bubble....perhaps you should read (or re-read) the complaints. And with it, the good points of the experience I pointed out - too bad the bag Nazi and coffee Nazis ruined what was a pretty decent experience.

And to make matters worse, you are giving very tacit approval for poor behavior, by stating that turnabout is somehow fair play? That is - well - ridiculous, but also quite arrogant and childish. As is, your attitude, if you don't mind me saying. But I suspect you very well WILL mind, so be it.

Your churlish attempt to villianize me is, well, a bit much. You've yet to offer any real, credible explanation for my two complaints, so until you do, please refrain from attacking me. I know it's hard, and as YOU said: "If people can inconvenience or irritate someone who has a bad attitude, they will. Because they can. Because it's fun" Those, sir or Madame, are YOUR words, not mine. By that statement you've proven yourself quite immature and insolent.

And, finally, your speaking on behalf of the collective "we" is not only inaccurate, it's quite annoying. You do not speak for anyone but yourself.

I'm glad that your otherwise drippingly accusatory, sarcastic and condescending attitude were brightened by my words of truth. Perhaps one day the bag and coffee Nazi's will oblige you with their services as well.

Ah, the not-so-subtle art known as Trolling... Carry on.

Speaking of carry on... It's probably obnoxious to bring on food and beverages in to-go packaging since the FA's have to be walking trash cans.

Now, if you wouldn't mind answering the questions put forth way back on page 1: Why was no one else's bag singled out and checked? Assuming, (although you clearly don't buy into it) my theory that I simply walked on the plane and headed for my seat (without spewing some hateful outbursts and foaming at the mouth), why was my bag lift-tested?

Further, lest I forget to mention, I called the airline 2x to discuss the checked baggage policy. It was there I learned that my status w/Delta has no checked baggage benefits. When I very clearly described my carry ons, I'm wondering why this policy was not disclosed, assuming it's SUCH a major safety concern???

Just sayin'.

Frankly Tom, I could care less what you think. And what's with the practice here of speaking on behalf of the collective?

I take it you've not enjoyed the Soup Nazi in some form or another? If not, it's a cultural phenom in the US, made famous by a TV show called Seinfeld, in case you hadn't experienced it. NO SOUP FOR YOU.

And to clarify the analogy even further, the sheep who purchased the soup gladly stood in line, and did their best to follow his rules, in order to be spared from his rejection?

Good analogy, sorry if you don't see the humor or relevance.

Mr H's point is that I don't think anyone here is anymore. The OP feels slighted because:

- he was prevented from taking an airside coffee on board by an FA which is something which happens frequently on may airlines around the world. The fact it was the first time it happened to him does not make it an outrage.

- he assumed that the carry-on he gets away with on his main carrier apply when traveling on another, and when called out on it, resorts to making derogatory comments about airline staff.

And another magical Google search gives no credibility to the "no hot beverages" policy:

1) Show me the policy and/or law about the hot beverages. I don't care that you think it's common place with "airlines around the world". Show me the policy and or law. I have googled it, for your convenience, just above this post....voila....no such thing.

2) "Gets away with"? Huh? What am I getting away with exactly? Use of the "overhead bins" (or attempted use)? Carrying on a carry on? Wow, not sure of your understanding of the term "getting away with" but here in the US, it usually means pulling off a scam.

3) It's called a carry on for a reason. It's to be carried on. Look it up.

4) Finally, arbitrary and capricious behavior is what it is. RIDICULOUS. (Note the caps for emphasis).

So, that's how I started this thread, and that's how I'll end it. Unfortunately my opinion of the policies, practices, and support thereof, has only gone downhill quickly and any defense of said nonsense have been completely and comprehensively unsupported.

Um... Just looked at a recent confirmation e-mail from VA and it has 9 important points before you fly. These are in large print and quite readable. The fifth says:

Baggage and Dangerous Goods

Be prepared for your journey with information about how much you can pack, what's allowed onboard and what should be left at home. Find out everything you need to know about baggage and dangerous goods.

Um....don't assume I booked it thru VA website. I did not. (You know what they say when one "assumes")? That said, I DID say the email came from the airline....I apologize for that error, it came from the 3rd party site, not VA.

Um....another thing.....perhaps you'd care to enlighten me as to why on the two lengthy phone calls I had with VA re checked bags they didn't feel it necessary to disclose this? Esp. when I confirmed the size? One would think that this VERRRRRYYYYY important tidbit might be worth a minute of their time?

Glad to be a source of amusement. But you missed the point. The status was mentioned b/c it published to have something to do with reciprocal baggage checking privileges. Or, actually, in this case, absolutely nothing to do, even though they claim it does.....the bigger point is that a partner airlines elite passenger enjoys absolutely no benefits whatsoever. That's kind of disappointing, don't you think?

I get a few bennies when traveling on Air France and KLM. VA....nothing. Purely back of the bus seating, no baggage allowances, nothing. Yet another reason I tend to have a negative impression of this company.

And paul, speaking of DYKWIA, how many times is PLAT and GOLD mentioned in your signature line? I counted 5, but who's counting??? Just sayin'.
