Getting really frustrated about the lack of LX C availability into BKK (lots of F, but I need to buy more miles for that). However, there is availability to BOM, which would mean a connecting TG flight which I am fine with. This is my first time taking my girlfriend in C (and her first time ever besides regional CX), and I've hyped it up a little bit, so putting her in TG/LH angled lie-flats might really kill the whole experience
Does this sound OK:
AMS-ZRH-BOM-BKK (destination)
BKK-PEK (long stopover) - ZRH-AMS
PEK is really the destination, but I know there is that greatest distance rule, so I guess I need to say that BKK is the destination.

And If it poses such a big problem, then buy a F-cl ticket for your GF...

Ladies & Gentleman,
It is sad to say, I think it is clear LH First blocking is in effect.
Just as a trial, I called US Airways with dates in which LH First was available on ANA, in this case a 4/8 departure FRA-NRT and a 4/11 return.
Despite availability on ANA, US Airways agent could not see it.
Would love to be proven wrong, has anyone had success in them seeing a F seat within two weeks out as of late?
Best,
fw

LH F and SQ J/F, SIN-FRA, is next to impossible.
LH, J, sin-delhi-fra does pop up every now and then...

I'd be more worried about getting lie-flats on the back end of that set of flights than the front end- and you'll be on TG for that part, right?
Have you looked at TG C out of CDG/FRA on the leased 9W 77Ws? It's really nice seating. Bit of a problem if you want to sit as a couple (you'll want to be in opposing rows then, and it's not really conducive to couples seating, but they are fine seats), but if you really want lie-flats, this is the way to do it.
IMO, having lie-flats on a daytime flight is a "nice to have", not a "must have"- I would pick OZ C slanties over UA lie-flats going from my home in SEA to Asia (NRT or ICN), because it's daytime flying on my body clock (departing SEA early afternoon). It's when you want to sleep 6 hours that you want a flat bed surface. I would probably take a daytime flight on TG/LH on FRA/ZRH/whatever-BKK over that itinerary- the convenience of not having a long transit (and longer travel time) that would interrupt sleep would win out. Alternately- see if SQ space opens up close-in in C ex-AMS (or wherever)?

Now that is luck - my booking isn't for a couple of months. Not completely my fault, since the GF's schedule isn't as open as mine is.

Thankfully availability just popped up!

Is LH J becoming hard to find? That's a very recent change if so. About a month ago we booked a trip with 5 LH J segments, only one of which was intra-Europe. No LH or LX F availability at all, though...

Star-blocking for LH F?
Just did a search using the ANA tool and I was able to see some LH F seats. Some time ago the availability on ANA was 100% the same what US agents could see. But today I tried to book a LH F seat and US was not able to see a single F award seat on LH even though ANA showed it...
Seems like LH is blocking their O inventory for US customers

Depends on time out. I find LH upgrades to be very close in, since many sell out.
I recently upgraded on LH from BLR-FRA (using US miles), but it was 3 days out.

There was an issue a couple of weeks ago, but that was all UA bookings not just F, attributable to systems issues at UA during their cutover/merger.

LH J intra-Europe was not an issue to me either.
