How about nicknames being on the ticket instead of legal names? I mean nicknames equal to CHRIS vs CHRISTOPHER, ALEX vs ALEXANDER, PAT vs PATRICK, or MATT vs MATTHEW?
I have already booked the ticket, and we are within 24 hours, so I could cancel and reissue, but if it isn't going to be a problem, I won't bother.

All I'm worried about is the boarding of the plane!

Gah! I booked a United Vacations flight and hotel package. The receipt they e-mailed me has my correct name, but when I go into My Itineraries to look at the flight, they've tacked my middle initial onto the end of my first name. I just called UA about a seat assignment I couldn't change online and also mentioned this issue, and they bounced me over to UA Vacations, which was closed. I'm thinking I really ought to get this fixed, though -- I'd hate to find out at security that I can't get through.

middle name add on will not be an issue. For the OP Orbitz has VIP phone numbers hopefully you can get someone to post one here for you.

I booked a ticket on United and, say my name is Todd A Smith, the name shows up as TODD A MR SMITH. No spelling errors, but they just threw the "Mr" in the middle of it. Will United (and Lufthansa, as two legs are on them) give me any trouble?

This is the way United formats all tickets. So, no, you won't be given any trouble.

But Orbitz does not allow it for non refundable tickets. You're on the hook as soon as you press "purchase".

Rob instead of Robert on ticket, will he still be able to travel?
I have a fried whos name is Robert, however the travel agent booked his ticket under the name Rob.
Will he have a problem checking in and getting past security under with that ticket?
Thanks

He'll be OK. I don't use my full legal name; it's like Rob and Robert. I've never had a problem, even internationally.
