Trying to clarify -

You did a status challenge
You did not fly the needed number of miles because you were given incorrect information on how many miles you had already flown
What is an EDQ?
I think this is a caveat emporer situation and you are out of luck

EDQ = typo, I edited it, EQM
you are correct on the rest, seems I am out of luck at this point, just frustrating when you are given incorrect info. but I should of flown more and padded the miles so as not to end up in this situation. Thanks

Not that this is relevant to your problem, but what level was the match for?

Just curious, how close were you (excluding CC EQM)?

Hi United folks,

I'm looking at switching to UA from DL. This is my first season flying large amounts of miles. I currently have 23k EQM on Delta, no status, and I have at least 40k more to fly this year. Will UA give me 2P or a 2P challenge, or will I have to do one more flight on DL, qualify for Silver Medallion, and then ask for a match?

I'm by no means an expert, but in order to request a match, you have to have achieved status already. They will ask for proof of status, either a copy of your actual card or a screen capture of your account with another airline showing your status.

That's what I thought, but I'd like to avoid the extra flight if I can. Does anybody else know? Should I call MP and explain my situation?

does not hurt to try, your other account will show your YTD miles and that may be enough. Make sure you call MP and not reservations.

Question Anyone status matched to UA recently?

I got my status the old fashioned way, but My sister just came on over from American. She did the 90 day/15000 qualifying thing. 1) So does that mean she's a Premier member until March 1 of 2011? 2) If she wants status for march 1 2011-March 1 2012, does she need to earn 10k more qualifying miles this year? Or?

thanks for any assistance

FYI status expires Jan 31st each year... not Mar 1st.

I am guessing she needs to fly another 10,000 this year to extend the expiration to 1/31/12, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

Here is the master thread (in before the move ):

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...t=status+match

I image her current status will expire 1/31/2011 so if she wants status beyond that she'll need to fly the additional 10K miles this year.

I doubt they would give 19 months of status via a match, but I've been wrong before

This is part of the email I got from Mileage Plus when I qualified for a status match this year:-

"Hello Allenkeys,

Congratulations! You have been awarded Premier Executive status in the Mileage Plus program! This will make your travel with us comfortable, simple and more rewarding than ever.

Your status will be effective for 90 days. Your 90 day time frame will be February 9, 2010 through May 10, 2010. To remain a Premier Executive member for 2010, you will need t to fly 15,000 paid flight miles or 20 flight segments on qualifying flights* within that 90-day timeframe. "

From the above I'm 99.9% sure the status match is only for 2010 (or January 31st 2011 as indicated above, and to retain PE for 2011 I need to attain 50,000 EQM or 60 EQS by December 31st 2010

that's the email she got

here's what she got (questions in bold)
Hello msangel1414,

Congratulations! You have been awarded Premier Executive status in the
Mileage Plus program! This will make your travel with us comfortable, simple
and more rewarding than ever.

Your status will be effective for 90 days. Your 90 day time frame will be
February 25, 2010 through May 26, 2010. To remain a Premier Executive member
for 2010, you will need t to fly 15,000 paid flight miles or 20 flight
segments on qualifying flights* within that 90-day timeframe.
(completed)
... ...
Premier Executive status can be earned each year by flying 50,000 Elite
Qualifying Miles (EQM) or 60 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS) between January
1 and December 31 of each calendar year. You earn EQM and EQS by flying on qualifying purchased flights on United and United Express and the Star
Alliance members.

So are we thinking that this above informational-sounding paragraph means she needs to pick up 35k more, to pick up status for 2011-2012? My guess is that she needs 35 more, but I am not super-familiar with the nuances of United.

Thanks for any help

50k EQM in the current calender year will do it. So +35k works.
