For my father's SFO-PVG flight, I'll take the E+ offer if he can get an aisle seat.
During OLCI, usually, yes.

On a codeshare LH flight LAX -ZRH Dec 29 = $1000USD Y to C. They were also offering 50,000 mile upgrades at the gate. Didn't accept.

If this was UA metal that would be a first.

Yes I did mean LX.

C looked o.k, but no Qantas C (ok I am now officially biased)

IAD-BRU, I was flying on an H fare, upgrades were offered for $595. This was on December 20. The GA told me there were three seats left. I declined.

ord-muc and muc-ord was offered $569 from Y (E+) to C by gate agent...declined both...

Seemed a bit pricey for a 4500 mile flight...however if it had been the NEW bus seats I would have jumped just to try them out...

E+ by some means other than an upsell.
I've been in E- and been offered a C upgrade. This was last year on an award ticket, nonetheless.

Took it. ^

Seems $600 - $700 is the new standard TATL, given recent reports. Ex-USA seems to be $649, ex-LON seems to be $690, ex-EU seems to be $620.
I had the same offer of €419.00 (Z > F) on 1/15 FCO-IAD and took it. It was a great flight too! ^

Asked for a paid upgrade at check-in counter in SIN recently. Was told there were none available. Later received an OP-UP from C to F (was on a Z fare). I certainly can't complain but what gives?

Where to ask for Paid Upgrade

Hi All,

New to United, and hope you can help. Flying on UA919 from LHR to IAD tommorow. just wondering what the likelyhood of paid upgrades might be, and also, where to ask for them...at check in, or at the gate? Thanks in advance

What class are you flying in? I would ask at check-in and then again at the gate, they can be done in both places loads permitting.

Thanks.
Paid $775US to upgrade SYD-SFO Y to C on 12/24/07, bought it at the SYD gate. Work paid for it and approved the expense report.^

Not sure what the going rate is but given it is I3 01 at the moment there is no one on the waitlist for an upgrade so it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask for a paid upgrade (at a quite early check in - don't leave it to the last minute!)

If there's two of you ask for a discount!! (I got a 2-4-1 once!!!)

Safe flight....

Your flight looks wide open but then again mine does too for tomorrow out of LHR. I called to check on my upgrade was told 5 seats left. When I checked at check-in today I was told there are 27 seats left. The agent at check-in said they had been holding the upgrades for the last couple of weeks on certain flights until day of departure! She was not sure why! Anyone else have any idea? I will try and get more GQ tomorrow!
