I guess it just depends on where you are coming from or where you are at in life. If I was in DBX for work that would likely only be 2-3 days per diem so I would probably take it in a heart beat esp if I had been gone more than a week.

11/18: PHX-DEN Y->F $154.
This seems to be the going rate on this route. I again declined it.

21NOV KIX-SFO E+ (and row 17 at that) to old style biz class for approx
JPY 60,000. Declined. Now had it been new style biz class the decision would've been that much harder...

Question about upsell at check-in
Yesterday at IAD, I asked for an upsell to J from Y for ORD-PVG.
They quoted me a price of $999 when it's usually more along the lines of $735.
Looking at the receipt, it said "Business Class Upgrade (7)". It usually says "Business Class Upgrade (5)".
I asked the check-in representative what the different numbers meant, but she responded by saying that she "had absolutely no idea".
I was wondering if anybody here could help explain the difference in numbers and price?
Thanks

I would guess that it has to do with the supply of seats, represented by the code and thus the higher price

SFO-FRA $712 C to F
Declined. UA showed me no love at the gate. I wound up being reassigned to a seat vacated by an op up to F when they wanted my seat to accommodate a family of 4 who wanted to sit together.

SFO-HNL $385.01 XY-XF (I'm guessing)
Award travel in Y for me and Mom89339. At OLCI offered upgrade for $385.01 each to F (presumably XF). I found the penny odd. I recall where some people mentioned they got miles for the OLCI upgrades from award travel and now am wondering if I should have...

OLCI offered Y->F on a 757 PHL-ORD for $154, both to Mrs. Exiled (on a DBCFREE ticket) and to me (on a rev ticket).
We declined.

I'd like to post a data point after checking in for my NW flight today.
UA offers to me:
PHX-LAX: $77
LAX-SFO: $77
DEN-PHX/PHX-DEN: $154
NW offers to me:
PHX-MSP-YUL: $190
PHX-DTW-RDU: $110
The latest one (RDU) was particularly remarkable against the UA offers.

Friend checked in online for IAD to LHR for today, 11/25/09 and was offered y to c for $809. That's crazy talk. I remember when they first started doing this it was around $350. That he would have done.
I guess they are pricing themselves out of this money making op. Oh well.
